2026 Term 1 Week 1 30 Jan 2026
Upcoming Events
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have enjoyed a positive week of learning as we commence the 2026 academic year. Students and staff are quickly settling in at both campuses, and programs are underway. It is always hot at this time of year, and we are grateful that our school is air-conditioned, allowing productive learning to continue throughout the summer months.
Thank you to the leadership team, staff, parents, and students for navigating the traffic at both campuses this week. Traffic will stabilise over the next fortnight. Please use bus services whenever possible, stagger arrival and departure times, consider carpooling for families who drive, and use the drop-and-go zone whenever possible. If you live locally and can walk safely to school, or you can park in the local area and walk safely to school, please do so.
Year 12 students should refrain from driving to school unless absolutely necessary and instead use the available bus services. As our regular before and after-school activities begin and our extensive sports and co-curricular programs are underway, traffic flow will improve.
Please join us for The Principal’s Welcome Event – Friday, 6 February
One of the great strengths of Lindisfarne is the way our parent community connects and supports the life of the School. Together with our Parents and Friends Association, I warmly invite all parents and guardians to join us for our annual Principal’s Welcome Event on Friday, 6 February, commencing at 6.30pm (NSW time). The venue will be our Sunshine Avenue Campus.
This evening is an excellent way to start the year, meet other parents, meet our Executive staff and other members of staff, and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Guests will be treated to drinks and gourmet canapés, followed by a twilight celebration featuring a live string quartet and captivating student music performances.
Please note that this is a student-free event. We recommend parking at Arkinstall Park and taking the Lindisfarne shuttle bus from the designated stops shown on the map below. I encourage you to RSVP early. Click here to confirm your attendance.

I look forward to seeing many of you there and sharing a special evening as we officially welcome the year ahead.
On Tuesday evening, 3 February, our Parents and Friends Association will hold its first meeting for the 2026 school year commencing at 6.30pm (NSW time). The venue will be the Junior School Campus at Sunshine Avenue. All are welcome.
Enjoy the weekend ahead and have a chance to regroup after what is always a very rewarding but busy first week of the school year for staff, students, and families.
Kind regards,

Chaplaincy News
Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2026 school year! I hope you had a rejuvenating break with friends and family and are raring to go for Term 1.
Each year, the Chaplains choose a theme to focus on. Last year, we joined the Anglican Church of Australia’s Year of Hope. The year before we focused on the theme of Light, in keeping with our school motto - Let Your Light Shine (Mathew 5 16). This year, we would like to focus on the theme of Kindness.
Kindness can be expressed in a number of different ways. One way is to speak kindly to each other. During our Start of Year Staff Eucharist,, I spoke about the positive influence of what is commonly called ‘Words of Affirmation.’
We focused on an event in Jesus’ life known as ‘The Transfiguration’ (Matthew 17:1-8), when the Divine voice from heaven affirmed Jesus by saying, “This is my Son, the beloved, in whom I am well pleased.”
We noted that these are the very same words that the heavenly voice spoke over Jesus at the time of his baptism. They are words of affirmation that empowered Jesus to live out of his own unique identity.
Immediately after Jesus first heard these divine words of affirmation at his baptism, he heard the undermining words of the Accuser - for that’s what Satan means, accuser - during his temptation in the wilderness. At which time, he had to decide which voice he was going to listen to - the one that called him to live out of his identity, or the one which would undermine it.
Frederick Buechner, in his book, Listening to Your Life: Daily Meditations, states; “A person’s life is full of all sorts of voices calling them in all sorts of directions. Some of them are voices from inside and some of them are voices from outside. The more alive and alert we are, the more clamorous our lives are. So, which do we listen to? Which kind of voice do we listen for?”
Rev Constantine has spoken to us many times about our propensity as humans to have a negativity bias - that we focus on the one negative thing spoken to us and forget the ten positives.
My dad, who passed away last year, often told me about what one of his teachers would repeatedly say to him while he was in school - “are you still here Mulholland? I thought you would have quit by now!”
Unfortunately, my dad eventually listened to this voice and left school early, unlike his brother and sister, and as result, missed out on reaching his full academic potential.
At Lindisfarne, we do not speak such unkind words to our young people, but rather, we intentionally look for signs of their potential and repeatedly speak words of affirmation into their lives, so that their potential may be fully realised.
Finally, and I wouldn't be doing my job properly without emphasising this point - we should note that immediately following the divine words of affirmation concerning Jesus’ identity comes the words, “listen to him.’
Of the plethora of voices we can tune into, the most life giving, is the voice of Jesus. And one of the clearest ways of listening to the voice of Jesus is to listen to the life-affirming words of Scripture.
In fact, to one of the Accuser’s attempts to undermine Jesus, he responded by making the very words of the Hebrew Scriptures (the Christian Old Testament) his own - “human beings don’t live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Deuteronomy 8:3).
And so, I’d like to finish this reflection with the following divine words of affirmation from those same Hebrew Scriptures. My encouragement to you all, as we begin this year, is to make these words your own.
God says to you, “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3). “I have inscribed you in the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). “I will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17). “ For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Blessings,
Reverend Lyndon

Musical News - Beauty and the Beast
The magic of Beauty and the Beast is well and truly alive at Lindisfarne after an exciting two-day workshop held on 14 and 15 January. With over 100 students involved, from lead and ensemble cast members to dancers and orchestra musicians, the workshop marked the start of what is shaping up to be a very special production.
Across the two days, students laughed, learned, and worked hard as they explored the music, movement, and characters of the show together. It was a wonderful way to reconnect after the holidays and build on the fantastic momentum created during Term 4, when rehearsals first began. A highlight for many students was receiving their cast T-shirts, a small moment that really made the show feel real.
With rehearsals now in full swing, excitement is building as we head towards performance week in Week 9.
Show dates are as follows:
Wednesday 25 March – 6:30pm (Opening Night)
Thursday 26 March – 6:30pm
Friday 27 March – 6:30pm
Saturday 28 March – 1:00pm
Saturday 28 March - 6:30pm
Tickets will go on sale at the end of Week 4, and we encourage families and friends to secure their seats early for what promises to be a joyful and memorable show.
We can’t wait to share this magical journey with our school community and showcase our students' incredible talent.

Middle School
From the Year 7 Coordinator
Our Year 7 students have had a busy and exciting start to the term, diving into school life with enthusiasm and confidence. Throughout the week, students focused on making new connections, meeting their teachers, and getting to know one another as they settled into their new routines.
A major milestone was setting up their new MacBooks, with students showing great problem-solving skills and perseverance. Lockers were allocated, schedules were organised, and students took time to explore the campus, becoming more familiar with their learning spaces and key facilities.

They showed excellent organisational skills in getting buses and resilience in joining new teams, demonstrating independence and a positive approach to new experiences.

Overall, it has been a fantastic first week for Year 7, and we are proud of how positively they have embraced new experiences and responsibilities. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow and thrive in the weeks ahead.

Senior School
From the Head of Senior School
It has been wonderful to have students back on the Mahers Lane campus. Schools just don’t feel right without the energy and presence of young people, and the Senior School has certainly been busy this week.
We have warmly welcomed our new Year 9 students into the Senior School, along with a number of new students in Years 10 and 11. These early days have involved a great deal of talking, setting expectations and intentionally paving the way for a successful year ahead. Strong connections are already being formed through our House Tutor Group sessions, which play an important role in supporting student wellbeing and belonging.
Effort will be the true measure of success in 2026, and we will continue to hold our Senior School students to a high standard in all they do. As we move into next week, I anticipate that both students and staff will feel increasingly settled into their routines, and I very much look forward to hearing about the engaging teaching and learning taking place in our classrooms.
Next week we will hold our first Senior School Assembly on Tuesday. Assemblies play an important role in bringing us together, providing a valuable opportunity to celebrate the many exciting things happening across the Senior School while also reinforcing the cultural expectations that underpin who we are. Tuesday’s assembly will be a formal occasion and will set the tone for the year ahead. Students are reminded that blazers are required.
We also have several important evening gatherings for Senior School parents next week. On Monday 2 February, we will hold the Meet the Senior School Tutor Evening. This will be immediately followed by The Rite Journey Information Session for Year 9 parents. Attendance at this session is requested for all Year 9 parents, given the importance of this program in supporting our students’ development. The link to attend these events can be found HERE, and I look forward to meeting parents on the evening.
A further opportunity to connect will be the Principal’s Welcome Evening, to be held at the Junior School on Friday 6 February. Parents are asked to indicate their attendance via this LINK.
In 2026, I am confident in the strength of our Senior School and the shared commitment we have to supporting each young person to grow in character and capability. When students, staff and families work in partnership, great things are possible. I look forward to a year marked by effort and kindness, and to seeing our students rise to the challenges and opportunities the year will bring.

Careers and VET Update
Welcome Back to the School Year – Careers & Pathways
As we officially begin the new school year, it has been wonderful to start the year hearing from our 2025 Year 12 graduates and learning about the diverse pathways they have taken since finishing school. Our graduates have gone on to secure places in a wide range of degrees across numerous universities, including (but not limited to) Griffith University, the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, the University of Newcastle, Charles Sturt University, Southern Cross University, the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, Bond University and Swinburne University.
Students are now studying across an impressive breadth of disciplines, including Law, Project Management, Speech Pathology, Engineering, Science, Film and Television, Political Science, Medical Radiation, Criminology, Biomedicine, Education, Arts, Veterinary Medicine, Sports Management, Mathematics, Architecture, Pharmacy and Midwifery.
Alongside this, a number of students have chosen alternative pathways, including taking a gap year, with experiences ranging from working at a ski lodge in the French Alps, to working as a gap assistant in Oxford, and studying internationally at foreign language schools. Other graduates have transitioned directly into full-time employment across a wide range of trades and industry areas.
As we welcome current students and families back for the year ahead, I am very much looking forward to working alongside our students as they continue to explore, plan and prepare for their future pathways.
In Year 10, I am excited to begin working with students through their fortnightly Careers lessons. This is a key year for building self-awareness, as students start identifying their interests, strengths and areas of passion. These lessons will support students as they move towards Year 11 subject selection in Term 2 and prepare for their work experience placement later in Term 4, an important opportunity to gain real-world insight and practical experience.
For our Year 11 students, this year marks the beginning of their senior studies and HSC journey. Throughout the year, the focus will be on helping students understand how their subject choices, effort and engagement connect to post-school options, whether that be university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships or employment. It is a year of exploration, goal-setting and laying strong foundations for life beyond school.
I am also looking forward to supporting our Year 12 students in their final year of schooling as they strive to achieve their personal best. This is a significant and exciting year, and I will be working closely with students as they navigate post-school planning, research, applications, early offers and decision-making, ensuring they feel informed and supported as they transition into their next chapter.
Families are always welcome to reach out at any time with questions or to discuss their child’s pathway planning. If you would like to organise a meeting, you can do so by booking a time via this link.

Queensland State Rowing Championships
It was a strong weekend of racing at the Queensland State Championships, with Lindisfarne rowers delivering competitive performances in challenging conditions. Representing the school were Ayla Drury, Maeve Swanson and Zara Wyatt.
Ayla Drury had an outstanding regatta, competing across multiple age groups and boat classes. She won gold in the U19 double scull, bronze in the U19 single scull and silver in the U17 single scull, along with a fourth-place finish in the Open Women’s double scull. These results reflect her consistency and the work completed over the holiday training period.
Maeve Swanson raced in a composite U19 eight and finished with a bronze medal. She handled the demands of championship racing well and contributed strongly to her crew’s performance.
Zara Wyatt produced solid races throughout the regatta, narrowly missing qualification for the final in both the U17 double scull and the U19 quad scull.
These performances provide a positive platform to build from as the season progresses.

Spotlight on Eliza Fahy
Congratulations to Eliza Fahy (Year 12) for her incredible performance at the Australian U18 Indoor Hockey Championships in Canberra.
Competing for Queensland, Eliza’s team fought their way to the grand final, taking home the Silver Medal after a tense 0-1 loss against New South Wales.

Round Square
RS Expedition - Kilimanjaro 2026
Round Square is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year, and we are delighted to invite students to apply for a place on an extraordinary expedition to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, in August.
This remarkable adventure will bring together students from across the globe for a shared experience that challenges them to step beyond their comfort zones while developing courage, resilience, and teamwork.
Rising majestically above the Tanzanian landscape, Mount Kilimanjaro reaches an impressive height of 5,895 metres. The eight-day trek will follow the Lemosho Route, renowned for its gradual ascent, excellent acclimatisation profile, and high summit success rate. The route passes through five distinct ecological zones, offering a truly unique and enriching experience.
This is a non-technical climb and is suitable for students who are active and have a good basic level of fitness.

Waste Free @ Lindisfarne

Recycling Hubs - Largest Shipment to Date!
At Lindisfarne, our recycling hubs collect items that cannot be recycled through traditional recycling systems, such as pens and markers, mobile phones, bread tags, and so much more. The collected waste is sent to specialised recycling facilities that can accept these items. Last week, our largest shipment of waste from the recycling hub to date was sent off. The shipment was 106.7 kg and included:
41.8 kg of batteries (13 ice cream containers worth)
38.1 kg of coffee pods
14.8 kg of oral care waste
7.5 kg of beauty product packaging
3.3 kg of e-waste
1.2 kg of dishwashing & air care waste
Thanks to the efforts of the Lindisfarne community, we have recycled over 185 thousand items with our recycling hubs! Let's make sure we keep this up! This waste is recycled within Australia into new items like bikes, bowls, plates, playgrounds, and outdoor furniture. (see photos below of what we recycled).

The following resources show the process behind how these items are recycled:

ConnectEd MacBook Air M4 Rollout
Advancing Digital Learning Across the School
ConnectEd ramped up in a big way this week as every student from Year 7 - 12 and every staff member completed their MacBook update. With the full cohort now equipped with MacBook Air M4, the rollout marked a significant achievement in our ongoing commitment to contemporary teaching and learning.
The rollout brought a real sense of energy and momentum to campus. Classrooms across all year levels were buzzing as students logged in to their new MacBook Air, explored new features, and began putting their updated tools straight to work. For staff, the shared upgrade has created greater consistency, enabling smoother collaboration and more seamless integration of digital resources into everyday learning.
Seeing whole year groups step forward together with new technology has set a positive tone for the year ahead. The new MacBooks are already supporting more creative, collaborative, and purposeful learning experiences, empowering students to engage more deeply with their work and connect more effectively with their peers and teachers.
As ConnectEd moves from rollout to everyday practice, the impact is already clear. The new technology is enhancing the way our community learns, teaches and innovates, laying strong foundations for a year of exploration, growth and meaningful learning across the school.
