Dear Lindisfarne Parents and Guardians,

As we conclude another rewarding week at Lindisfarne, I am excited to share the highlights that included celebrating our collective well-being and embracing leadership transitions.

Our annual Wellbeing Week, themed "Be Active, " was tremendously successful. Across both campuses, students and staff participated in various activities designed to promote holistic health—body, mind, and spirit. It's heartening to see our entire community embracing these initiatives, demonstrating our commitment to nurturing every aspect of well-being.

On Tuesday, we celebrated an important tradition at Lindisfarne with the Leadership Induction Service for our Year 11 students, who are stepping up as the 2025 senior leaders. It was a proud moment to witness the class of 2025 ready to take on responsibilities that will develop their leadership skills and significantly contribute to our school culture and community.

A week's highlight was the spirited Staff vs Students annual cricket match at Reg Dalton Oval. Played in great spirit, the game showcased lively competition and enthusiastic community support. The staff team secured victory by just one run, making for a thrilling finish. Congratulations to Simon Leach (staff team) and Charlie Evesson (student team) for earning the respective "Player of the Match" awards.

On World Teachers' Day, we took a moment to acknowledge and thank our dedicated educators. Our teachers' commitment to fostering our student's educational journey is of the highest order, and I am personally grateful for their positive impact on our students and our community every day.

The week closed with a burst of colour and joy at the Junior School Colour Run. Seeing the excitement and energy was wonderful as students enjoyed celebrating the end of Wellbeing Week with laughter and fun.

As the weekend approaches, we focus on our rugby teams competing in the Rugby QLD All Schools 7’s State Championships in Brisbane. We are extremely proud of their commitment to preparing for the Championships and wish our teams the best of luck as they represent the Lindisfarne Lions over the weekend.

Dear Students, Staff, Parents, and Guardians

We concluded our Wellbeing Week 2024 today, focusing on promoting holistic health—mind, body, and spirit. The event aimed to proactively support students’ wellbeing, helping them build resilience and better relationships, which are key to their academic success. We began with a Prayer Service for world peace on Sunday, and concluded with the Junior School fun Colour Run at the Sunshine Avenue Campus, and the film screening of “Screenagers: Growing Up in a Digital World” at our Mahers Lane Campus Chapel this evening at 6pm.

A Proactive Approach to Wellbeing

At Lindisfarne, we believe that wellbeing and academic achievement are deeply connected. We take a preventative and proactive approach to ensure students thrive in all aspects of life, equipping them with the tools they need to stay healthy and balanced, both in school and life beyond the school.

Why Wellbeing Matters

Research shows that focusing on wellbeing leads to better learning, stronger relationships, and improved health outcomes. We also drew inspiration from Robert Waldinger’s TED talk on happiness which emphasises the importance of relationships in achieving long-term fulfilment. Waldinger’s research shows that while a happy childhood has lasting effects, even those who face early challenges can build a better life through positive relationships. His talk reminds us that coping with stress and spending quality time with others are key to navigating life’s ups and downs.

2024 Theme: ‘Be Active’

This year’s theme, ‘Be Active,’ encouraged students to engage in physical activities, from fitness challenges to yoga sessions. Physical health plays a crucial role in supporting mental clarity, emotional wellbeing, and overall performance.

The 5 Steps to Wellbeing

Our School’s commitment to wellbeing extends far beyond this one week. Inspired by Dr. Donna Cross’s 5 Steps to Wellbeing, we aim to integrate these principles into our school life:

  • Connect (2023) – Building meaningful relationships

  • Be Active (2024) – Prioritising physical health

  • Take Notice (2025) – Practising mindfulness, wholeheartedness and gratitude

  • Keep Learning (2026) – Cultivating a curious mindset

  • Give (2027) – Embracing generosity and service to others

Additionally, we added a 6th step: PRAY (2028), to remind us of the importance of spiritual wellbeing.

Looking Ahead

Wellbeing Week 2024 was a success, reminding us that wellbeing is the foundation of personal and academic success. By fostering connections, encouraging physical activity, and offering strategies for mental resilience, we’ve helped our students grow healthier and stronger. Thank you to all those who assisted with all the activities.

As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to promoting wellbeing throughout the school, ensuring every student feels loved, supported and empowered.

In our prayers this weekend, let us pray for all young people battling mental health challenges and those caring for them.

HSC Major Works Exhibition - All Invited

Block Party On Bay – This Saturday!

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 26, will see Germinate Records host the youth stage at Block Party On Bay, a street festival in Bay Street, Tweed Heads. There will be two alternating stages, The Germinate Records Youth Stage, featuring young music artists from Lindisfarne and the local area, and the Badlands Vinyl Stage featuring a range of established local artists headlined by Dre Dub and JK 47. Many Lindisfarne students will be performing on the Germinate stage including:

Our stage will be headlined by local band Da Manager, featuring our very own Cruz Kill on drums.

The event is a collaboration between Germinate Records, Badlands Vinyl Record Store and Tweed Chamber of Commerce. There will be food trucks, market stalls and activities for kids. The event will run from 1pm through to 7pm (NSW). Please come on down and support our talented students and this fantastic community event.



The Germinate Records Band

During the last school holidays, we filmed three performances by The Germinate Records Band, a collaborative project enabling senior school musicians, university aged musicians and established musicians to work together to create band-new music. Our first ‘live in the studio’ video features Jamie Mifsud and the band performing Jamie’s song, Give Me Something.

Junior School

Wellbeing Week - Junior School

This week, our Junior School community came together for an unforgettable Wellbeing Week, where we embraced the theme “Be Active – Movement Creates Emotion” Recognising that wellbeing looks different for everyone, we offered both active and reflective experiences, allowing each student to connect meaningfully. From collaborative art projects, Just Dance in the Undercroft, live music, preschool cooking, stone painting, the fancy dress photo booth and energetic games to mindfulness exercises and tech-based teamwork, the week showcased how movement, creativity, and mindfulness can ignite joy, bring calm, and foster connection.

A standout for many was the Year 1-4 Yoga in French sessions, adding a unique twist to our specialist timetable. Students worked on their mindfulness and movement skills while enhancing their language learning, combining physical and intellectual growth in a peaceful and engaging environment.

To further link mind and body, the Junior School paused for a Simultaneous Mindfulness Moment. In their classrooms, students practised belly breathing, an exercise in mindfulness and self-regulation.

In the Music Garden, Junior School soloists and the Junior School Rock Band delivered a lunchtime concert, filling the air with music and pure joy. Students shared their musical talents with peers, creating a beautiful atmosphere of support and celebration. The performances highlighted not only the talent within our Junior School but also the role of creativity in wellbeing.

Another special event during Wellbeing Week was the live book reading by Vanessa from Healing House Publishing, of The Little Light Within by author Sarah Bell. This beautifully illustrated book delivered a message to our students of inner strength, resilience, and self-belief, perfectly aligning with the week’s focus on wellbeing.

We ended Wellbeing Week on a high note with a P-4 Colour Run, bringing energy, excitement, and a burst of vibrant colour to the Junior School. The Colour Run perfectly captured the spirit of the week, highlighting how movement creates not only emotion but also lasting memories and joy.

It was a fantastic week full of movement, smiles, fun, and connection. After all the excitement, we’re sure everyone will sleep well this weekend—but we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

FUN Swimming Carnival K-2

All Kindergarten to Year 2 students will be participating in a Fun Swimming Carnival, on Friday 15th November, which includes a variety of races and novelty events at Kingscliff Pool.

The day is all about FUN and water orientation. The novelty events are in the learn to swim pool where the students are able to touch the bottom and gain confidence in the water and around others. The “races” are participation only, there are no results times or awards given out. Students are assisted in the pool by adults and get the experience of swimming laps in the ‘Big” pool. This is a fantastic precursor for our Year 2 students as they transition to the Swimming Carnivals in years to come.

Parental Assistance is required on this day, if you are able to assist either in the pool or helping with the BBQ please email Mr Nathan Croft via email ncroft@lindisfarne.nsw.edu.au.

We would like to have at least 2 adults per lane per hour in the big pool which equates to 12 people per hour, this makes an enormous difference to the smooth running of the day.

Three ways parents can assist are as follows:

  1. In Pool Help - Required to be in the Big pool or Learn to swim pool assisting the students in races or games.

1 hour time slots in the big pool.

11am - 12pm

12pm - 13pm

13pm - 14pm


  1. Class Help - Follow a class to each activity and assist Teacher where required.

  1. BBQ Help - Assist the P&F to cook and serve the BBQ Lunch.

Touch Football

On Tuesday, 22nd November, a group of our year 4 students participated in the Kings Cup Primary Touch Gala Day. Teams from various primary schools came together for an exciting day of competition and fun. Our boys and girls showed great teamwork and sportsmanship as they played several close matches. Both teams gave it their all, with quick passes, clever dodges, and impressive tries. Although they didn’t win every game, they kept their spirits high and cheered for each other throughout the day. A big congratulations to all the players, and a huge thank you to the parents who came and supported. Both teams had a fantastic day, with the Under-10s Boys making it all the way to secure runners up in their age group.

Year 1 Swimming Lessons: Making a Splash in Term 4!

This week, our Year 1 students dove into their Term 4 swimming lessons, and what a fantastic start it has been! Excitement was in the air as the children eagerly arrived at the pool, organised and ready for their first lessons. Their enthusiasm was matched by their focus, and we couldn't be prouder of how well they behaved throughout the sessions.

The students displayed excellent listening skills and followed instructions carefully, making the lessons smooth and enjoyable for everyone. It's wonderful to see them embracing this important life skill, and we’re already noticing their growing confidence in the water.

To help make the swimming routine even smoother, we encourage children to keep practising putting on goggles and swimming caps at home. This will speed up the process and give the students more time to enjoy their lessons. With consistent practice and their great attitudes, we’re confident they’ll continue to thrive throughout the term.

We’re excited to see the progress our Year 1 swimmers make over the coming weeks! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Writing Competition Spotlight: Ella Abbey

Ella Abbey in 6D is to be acknowledged for the outstanding written work submitted in two National competitions. This year, the Speak 4 the Planet National Competition asked participants to focus on the importance of their local bushland – for themselves, their communities, and their regions. Ella was awarded second place in the writing category. The Dymocks Creative Writing National Competition was themed, ‘Beyond Words’ where Ella has again been awarded second place in the Primary School Competition. Ella’s submission for both competitions are listed below.

Speak 4 the Planet Writing Entry

The birds, the butterflies, the beasts are no more. The river, the mountain, the valley, silent. Their mossy guardian is toppled, the forest’s lifeblood crushed. The grand trees no more.

Dymocks Creative Writing Entry

The winter wind was cold on my back and the cobblestones threatened to catch on my ridiculous high-heels. The purple dress scratched me and the sleeves slipped down constantly. I wasn’t sure that indigo was my colour but Gran had assured me that I looked fabulous before I left. Even I had to admit that the narrow sleeves that melted into the neckline and the way the fabric flowed off me actually looked pretty good, even if it did make me feel self conscious. Twisted strands of music flowed through the air. If my uncle was here he would tell me all about the different instruments and what key it was in and who the composer was and so on. But he wasn’t. That thought reminded me of my purpose, and I walked faster as the tide of memories rushed in. I remembered the day the guards had taken my uncle away. I had heard it had happened to other people but I had never imagined it would happen to us. I remembered the trial, the accusations of “treason”, but we all knew that that’s not what happened. He was murdered because he cared. In the king and queen’s ideal world all the people were the same, they were quiet, obeyed every decree and were so absorbed in themselves that they didn’t care about others. My uncle went against all of that. That is why he hung. I remember crying into Gran’s arms as his lifeless body swung. But I couldn’t dwell on that, because I had arrived at the castle.

I had no idea what to expect of the ball. Everybody in the kingdom of Ḏenaxé was technically invited but it seemed like not many had turned up. I didn’t see why as the view was absolutely breathtaking. Pillars of gold with veins of crystal and a chandelier that glittered with the light of the stars glistened above the crowd. The people below dressed in a sweeping rainbow of fabrics. And the centre-piece of the room - a jewel-encrusted sceptre on a velvet pedestal. I should have been enjoying this breath-taking view but all I could think of was how I was going to bring it all down.

I shivered as I watched the guests talk, desperately hoping it wouldn’t come to… small talk. As I made my way down the stairs I started to worry. What if I tripped? What if there was something on my dress? What if I bumped into someone? I started to weave carefully around the groups of elegantly dressed guests. Suddenly, a kid with dark blue hair and purple eyes skidded into my path. Everybody in Ḏenaxé knew who this was…

“Hi! Finally, someone who’s not a boring adult! I’ve been sooooooo bored. What’s your name?” Regent Zephyré looked relieved to have escaped the gossiping. I guess I was their enemy as they were the child of the king and queen but… Zephyré was too cheery to hate.

“Uhh… Eةa Aلa. I’m Nical.” I used the traditional greeting for royalty and bowed. “It’s an honour, Regent Zephyré.”

“Eةá Aلa. Nice to meet you too. And lay off the tradition, it’ll take ages.”

I tried to think of a way to have a normal conversation (Not exactly my strong suit). “Do you, like, uhhh, umm… Are you looking forward to getting married? ‘Cause that is like what the ball is about, right?” Smooth. Real smooth.

“No.” Well, that was quick! “Romance is gross. …I mean… no, ummm … So… What’s your favorite color?” (That was my awkward conversation starter!)

“Black.” I answered.

“Same!”

Then King Dayrell and Queen Siobhan signaled them over.

“Got to go!” Zephyré said. With a heart stopping wrench I realised that I had started to like them.

“Shoot.” I muttered before continuing down the hall to the Hexaax room.

I pulled out a small black box that I had hidden yesterday when I snuck in disguised as a cleaner, and set to work. You see it takes a while to construct a bomb, and I had had to deconstruct it to smuggle it in. As I connected the wires I looked around the hexagonal room. There was an Aطa٢n, a circular stringed instrument, and a big window that would be my escape route. Other than that the room was empty. I went over the conversation I had had with Zephyré. Had I said anything wrong? Had I given myself away? Footsteps crescendoed and decrescendoed, tearing me away from these worries. I had more important things to think about. I went through the plan in my head again. And again.

As I was reviewing the plan for the 50th time a voice cut through my thoughts.

“Whatcha doin?”

I slowly turned towards Regent Zephyré. I guess there was no point in lying as I had been caught red handed.

“Building a bomb.” I dead-panned.

“Good for you. Can I help?”

Well, that was a plot twist!

“Why the heck not?”

They sat down next to me.“But … why?” I asked, “Don’t you, like, want to stop me?”

“No. I kind of hate the monarchy.”

“Whyyyyyyy though?”

“When I was nine I made a friend. His name was Ízam. But he was a peasant so my parents didn’t want me talking to him. They banished him and executed his parents. He was nine, Nical, nine.”

“My uncle was executed for no reason. I have been fighting ever since.”

Each caught in our own thoughts, we turned back towards our task.

In what felt like seconds we were finished. I stood up and stretched. Zephyré dusted off their pants.

“The honor is yours.” they said, gesturing to the red button.

“Like I was going to let you do it.” I muttered.

In the sudden stillness, we heard footsteps getting louder. And then we heard them stop.

The door creaked open.

I doubted that it was another person that would offer to help.

“Eةa Aلa, Regent Zephyré.” bowed the guard. “Wait, is that bomb! I have to warn them!” he cried as he fled the room.

“Good for you.” said Zephyré.

“You say that alot.” I commented.

Then I pressed the button.

We had 30 seconds.

It took many attempts from me and one from Zephyré to break the window. (I would never hear the end of that).

20 seconds.

I jumped(fell) through the window with Zephyré right behind me.

10 seconds.

We ran through the forest surrounding the castle. I got 50 cobwebs in my face and Zephyré didn’t seem to be doing any better.

3…2…1… Kaboom! Crash! Kapow!

Fire exploded from the windows and the once grand castle of Ḏenaxè collapsed on itself, reduced to a pile of rubble. The evacuated guests clamored in the courtyard. The castle was gone and so was the sceptre that gave the monarchs their power. No sceptre, no power. No power, no executions at their whim.

We had done it. We had avenged my uncle, Ízam and all the other innocent souls that were crushed under the foot of power. And more importantly we had ended the tyrant rule of King Daryell and Queen Siobhan.

“Where to next?” I called to Zephyré.

“Don’t tell me you haven’t thought of that, that’s so cliché!” they replied.

“I’ve thought of it a million times over, but I never counted on a buffoon following me!”

Thankfully, they ignored that.

“Well, I heard of a boy calling himself the Shadow Lord in The Forest…”

“And you think it could be Ízam.”

“You could have just left it there. It would have been more dramatic.”

We walked deeper into the woods and into our happily ever after.

Well, for like two seconds before Zephyré angered some guy and now we’re trying not to die… But that’s a story for another time.

With the induction of our Year 12 leadership cohort this week, we are presented with a timely moment to reflect on the profound privilege that leadership represents in our school. It is an opportunity not only to congratulate those entrusted with this responsibility but also to consider what leadership truly means within the context of our values and aspirations.

At the induction service, I shared these words with our new leaders: "We gather today to acknowledge our new leadership team, congratulate them, and reflect on what leadership and service mean to our school." Leadership, as we understand it at Lindisfarne, is about far more than holding a title or wearing a badge. It is about embodying the values we hold dear - Compassion, Wisdom, and Respect - and consistently living those values through our actions.

Dame Jenny Shipley, New Zealand’s first female Prime Minister, said it best: “True leaders understand that leadership is not about them but about those they serve. It is not about exalting themselves, but about lifting others up.” This sentiment lies at the heart of what we instil in our leaders. Leadership, in its purest form, is an act of service. It is about using our influence to make a positive difference in the lives of others - to create an environment where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

As I emphasised during the service, the most powerful leadership tool we possess is the example we set through our actions. Words alone are not enough; true leadership is about demonstrating the values we cherish in the choices we make every day. Whether in moments of triumph or challenge, it is our conduct that sets the tone and inspires others. The leaders we acknowledged this week have embraced this understanding of leadership. They know it is a privilege to serve, and their commitment to leading with the trademarks they have selected for themselves - Dedication, Determination, and Bravery - is already evident.

Earlier this week, we held a leadership retreat down at the Boathouse where the newly inducted leaders worked alongside their staff mentors to begin planning the year ahead. Today, they continued their journey as a team at Salt Surf Life Saving Club, working with the wonderful team from Character Builders. These moments are not just about leadership in title - they are about cultivating the skills, mindset, and teamwork necessary to lead.

As we move forward, I am confident that this cohort will serve as exemplary role models, helping to ensure that our school thrives under their guidance. Leadership at Lindisfarne is not just about being at the front; it is about lifting others up, making meaningful contributions, and fostering a sense of community that will endure long after their final year concludes.

Wellbeing

The Senior School has been buzzing during Wellbeing Week, with a diverse range of activities for students and staff to enjoy to help kick off Term 4. Our senior students were blessed to hear from Michael Carr-Gregg on Monday afternoon, who shared practical tips for surviving and thriving in Year 12. Lunchtime activities were extremely popular, including volleyball, ‘Just Dance’, Capture the Flag, table tennis, pickleball, mindful colouring, a photo booth and Gratitude Wall. Staff and students also had the opportunity to ‘Walk and Talk’ at various local destinations throughout the week, designed to build community, enable connections and foster wellbeing. We are extremely grateful to the staff members who facilitated these fantastic opportunities and to the students who brought along such positive attitudes.

To build on these positive interactions, I encourage students to focus on getting the little things right when coming to school each day. Indiscretions like lateness, jewellery, untucked shirts, mobile phone use (including Airpods), off-task behaviour and laptop gaming are very much avoidable and within the control of students. To ensure students can maximise their learning opportunities each day and to avoid distracting others, it is critical that these issues are addressed. I do commend the vast majority of students who are outstanding in these areas.

Year 9 Commerce Market Day

Year 9 Commerce students are hosting a Market Day during lunch-time (12:45-1:25pm) on Wednesday the 20th of November. As part of their entrepreneurship unit, the students have been creating businesses from scratch, progressing through the stages of idea generation, production, and promotion. This journey will culminate in an exciting Market Day, where students will proudly showcase their businesses to the school community. The Market Day stalls will be located in the M block courtyard (or in the O Commons space in the case of wet weather). They will be selling a range of exciting products, including slime, sunglasses, stress balls, hair spray, polaroid photos, men’s fragrances, coasters, lanyards, bracelets, ceramics, flower bouquets, t-shirts, candles, soap, body butter, tie-dyed socks, and airpod cases. We hope to see you all there!

Apple Vision Pro Event: Advancing Coding and Engineering Skills

This week, students participated in the first two days of an exciting four-day event at Southern Cross University, designed to enhance their skills in software coding and engineering. Led by James Dale, a four-time Swift Student Challenge winner, the event focused on app development for the Apple Vision Pro, a device at the forefront of augmented reality and spatial computing.

Students used iPads and iPhones to 3D scan objects from home and even scanned each other, incorporating these elements into dynamic augmented reality projects. Working with Xcode, they explored how physical objects and people can interact within virtual environments, pushing the boundaries of their creativity and technical skills.

Quite a few of our exceptional young athletes were going about their business at the highly esteemed NSWPSSA Athletics meeting at Sydney Olympic Park. Will Middleton, Jack Kane, Andie Buchan, Elle Down and Nyah McLaughlin all competed. Full results and an article next week when we receive all the details, but early-doors results coming through are outstanding, watch this space!

We have our Primary NFL players heading out to the National Championships at the Gold Coast next Friday. An all expenses paid trip to the USA awaits the winning team. Thanks to Mr McDonald for his hard work in this space.

Our Primary Touch Footballers are in peak season - with NCIS next week, then Queensland All Schools. Good luck to these squads.

Our Secondary Rugby squads head to Brisbane for the QLD School Rugby 7’s tournament. The last matches of a very long season and campaign. Congratulations to all these students, good luck up there in the Brisbane humidity.

Wiburd Shield Cricket (Years 7 to 9)

Last Thursday, Lindisfarne neatly dispatched St Columba in the first round of the NSW Northern Conference of the Wiburd Shield at Woolgoolga.

After losing the toss, Lindisfarne set about restricting St Columba to just 90 runs off 22 overs. Playing one short, the Lindisfarne team demonstrated some disciplined bowling and fielding on a good batting wicket. Leading the way with the ball was Zach Bennett- 3/3 off 3, Tom O’Brien- 2/6 off 3, Kane Wood- 2/11 off 6 and Harvey Vecht- 2/24 off 4.

The St Columba score was quickly accounted for in just 16 overs, primarily by Kane Wood (25 not out) and Fletcher Bisgrove (50 not out). Their partnership provided an excellent demonstration of patience, maturity and skill.

This was a truly excellent result for a team playing one man down and highlighted the importance of everyone’s contribution in the field-especially in a state-wide knockout competition. Not only did they win, but the boys (ably led by Fletcher), conducted themselves in a highly respectful and sportsmanlike manner and were gracious in victory.

Lindisfarne is likely to face Calrossy Anglican School, Scone Grammar or The Armidale School in the next round. Standby everyone- this is a team with some real potential. Well done boys.


NCIS Surfing

The NCIS Surfing Competition was held last week at Sawtell main beach, with 10 students representing Lindisfarne and 33 students from four other NCIS schools competing in what turned out to be an incredible day. The conditions were ideal for surfing, with clean waves and beautiful weather providing the perfect backdrop for the competition.

Students showcased their skills and passion for the sport, delivering impressive performances in the water. The atmosphere on the beach was electric, with competitors, staff, and supporters all enjoying the day.

Overall, it was a fantastic day for all involved, and we look forward to next year’s event!

Cricket - Staff vs Students

Earlier in the week, our staff faced off against our students in the school’s annual Staff vs. Student Cricket match. This game was played in great spirit, full of lighthearted banter, impressive runs, dropped catches, and hopefully, some memorable moments. It was truly a "feel good" evening.

The staff set a great total of 167, with Matt Bedford and Jasper Schoenmaker retiring at the run limit. The students started slow but quickly gained momentum, making it seem like the game could go either way. However, some very tight bowling by Simon Leach, which earned him the Man of the Match award (voted by the students), helped claw it back. In a thrilling finish, the staff sneaked through for the second year in a row with a narrow 1-run win.

A huge thanks to everyone who came to cheer on the teams. This is a wonderful tradition we have started, and we look forward to seeing more staff and students playing and cheering next year.


Race Kayaking

Students who received medals at the QLD Schools Kayaking Championships last weekend were:

  • Ivy Mison Yr 7 First in the TK1 Marathon and Sprint.
  • Coco Loemker Yr 7 Second in the TK1 Marathon and third in the Sprint
  • Tommy Trehitt Yr 8 1st in the TK1 Marathon and third in the sprint

Other students involved in the championships were:

Myla Naylor, Beau Nicholson, Felix Monti, Harry Burdon and Jack Bowes.

I am looking for six more students to join our program. The program runs during Thursday sport, and we intend to start after-school training next year.

TERM 4 UPDATE

Our Lindisfarne rugby program has one remaining 7s tournament to compete in, the QLD Rugby All Schools 7s. We had great success in this tournament last year with our U15s finishing 2nd in the state and a number of Linidisfarne players, Koen Hodge, Teo Martin and Ruby Power, being named in the All Schools merit team. The dates for the QLD All Schools 7s is 26-27th October and we will be travelling up as a school on the Saturday morning, staying overnight, competing over both days in U18/U15/13 boys and U18/15 girls and then returning on the Sunday afternoon.

Cultural Immersion in India – A Journey of Connection and Growth

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Cultural Tour of India, where seven of our students from years 9 to 11 embarked on an unforgettable journey of learning, growth, and cultural exchange. This inaugural tour provided an opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of India, and they embraced every moment with remarkable maturity and an open heart.

Our journey began with an initial immersion into Indian life in the bustling capital city, New Delhi. This brief time in the north was not only a glimpse into the nation's history but also a memorable cultural experience. Our visit to Agra felt like a pilgrimage, with the majestic Taj Mahal standing as a breathtaking testament to love. Learning the historical and emotional significance behind the world's greatest monument to love made the experience even more special. Additionally, exploring the grandeur of the Red Fort offered our students valuable insights into India's rich past and its architectural wonders.

During the visit to Pallikoodam in Kerala, our students engaged with their peers in meaningful exchanges, gaining valuable insights into the education and traditions of another part of the world. The hospitality shown by the staff and students at Pallikoodam was heartwarming and reaffirmed the strong connection between our two schools. This cultural exchange has paved the way for future collaborations, and discussions are already underway to build on this successful partnership. Our invitation to share in the feast celebrating Navaratri Golu, a special Hindu festival at the family home of Milan, one of the students to visit Lindisfarne, was another memorable experience. Additional activities included a two-night side trip to Thekaddy in the hills of Kerala. Our elephant rides, local dance and martial arts performances and trek through the local tiger reserve gave us even more special memories.

A particularly poignant moment of the tour was our visit to Gilgal Ashwasa Bhavan. The emotional maturity displayed by our students during their time visiting was exceptional. They not only interacted so confidently and compassionately with the residents but also took on the responsibility of serving a delicious lunch to them. This experience deepened our students’ understanding of community and service, and it was truly inspiring to witness their kindness, empathy, and respect. We are looking forward to finding ways that we, as a school community, can support the amazing work being done at Gilgal.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful students and staff at Pallikoodam for their warm hospitality and for welcoming us so openly. This tour has laid the foundation for a strong and enduring relationship between our two schools, and we are excited about the possibilities for future exchanges and connections.

For students who feel inspired by this experience, we encourage you to keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities to follow in the footsteps of our pioneering inaugural tourists. We look forward to sharing information about future cultural tours, where more students can embark on these enriching journeys and continue to build bridges between our communities.

Homestay Families Requested

Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School is excited to, once again, host visitors from Aoyama Gakuin University in March 2025. This program, led by Dr Sue Hudson, Southern Cross University, provides Japanese university students an opportunity to explore Australian culture and education while also providing them with new and exciting ways to serve communities.

Dear Families,

We are looking for expressions of interest from suitable families to host a Japanese University Student from Aoyama Gakuin University. We are running the program starting Saturday March 1 to Saturday March, 22, 2025. Again the program will be hosted at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, Mahers Lane, Terranora Campus.

Homestay Families are reimbursed $420 per week per student being a total of $1260 per student for the three weeks. Japanese students will learn about Australian Culture, and Christianity and improve their English. The age range of the students is between 18 and 25 years, and they have various English language levels.

Homestay families will need to provide:

1. A safe and welcoming home environment;

2. A bedroom of their own;

3. Three meals per day including a packed lunch and morning tea;

4. Transport to and from the school;

5. Great conversations;

6. Fun weekend activities including visits to church on Sundays.
