Foreword

Dear Lindisfarne Parents and Guardians,

As Term 3 draws to a close, I want to reflect on a truly special and memorable week in our school calendar, one that encapsulates the spirit of Lindisfarne: community, celebration, leadership, and legacy.

Tuesday night saw our Senior Netball Presentation, a wonderful evening that acknowledged the incredible efforts of our staff, student-athletes, coaches, managers, and families who make up the netball community at Lindisfarne. The teamwork, growth, and achievements across the season were celebrated in style. Congratulations to all involved for a successful season.

On Wednesday morning, we gathered for the Year 12 Breakfast and Final Assembly, a poignant and heartfelt occasion as we shared in the first of many milestones for the Class of 2025. It was a time of reflection, gratitude, and celebration, marking the beginning of the end of their Lindisfarne journey. Watching our Year 12 students walk through the Guard of Honour, revisit memories, and be surrounded by their teachers, staff, parents, family members and peers was truly moving and inspiring.

Thursday brought a new and meaningful initiative for our Year 7 cohort (the Class of 2030) with the inaugural Leadership Day. The program was designed to inspire, empower, and challenge our 2026 Middle School leaders to think about leadership not only as a formal title but also as a mindset and way of being, something that the whole year group can contribute to. It was heartening to see our students step up with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Also on Thursday evening, we celebrated a significant milestone with our Rugby Captains Dinner and Presentation, a tradition now firmly cemented in our culture after just four years of the Rugby Program. The night was a fitting celebration of commitment, camaraderie, and the growth of a program that continues to go from strength to strength. Congratulations to all involved in shaping another great year for Lindisfarne Lions Rugby: “Once a Lion, always a Lion.”

Today, we announced our Student Leadership and Prefect team for the year ahead. We had outstanding young people step forward to be considered for the various roles available. I look forward to the Student Leadership Induction Service to be held in Ngahriyah at 9:00 am on Friday, 17 October 2025.

Tomorrow, I have the pleasure of joining members of our Class of 2005 for their 20-year reunion, a beautiful reminder that the Lindisfarne connection lasts long after graduation. As we build the culture that, “You never actually leave a school like Lindisfarne, you just stop attending every day.” I look forward to hearing stories, memories, and reflections from the Class of 2005 and celebrating this milestone with them.

As we turn our attention to the break ahead, I encourage all families to enjoy the change of routine, reset and reconnect with one another. Term 4 is always a dynamic, celebratory, and fast-paced time of learning and achievement, and I look forward to returning refreshed and ready for the many memorable moments still to come in our 2025 Academic year.

Thank you for your continued support throughout Term 3. Wishing you and your families a safe, restorative, and joy-filled break, and looking forward to seeing students return to school on Tuesday, 14 October, for an exciting term ahead.

Warm regards,

Stuart Marquardt

Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Guardians,

Over the course of this term, we have been exploring the lives of each of the Saints that our Houses are named after. In last week’s article, Reverend Constantine wrote on the life of a recently canonised saint, Carlo Acutis. In this article, we will round out the term by focusing on the question: What is a saint?

To answer this question, we will look again at our rich Judeo-Christian Tradition, by first turning to the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, known as the Old and New Testaments.

The Old Testament Hebrew word for ‘saint’ is ‘kodesh’, and it means ‘holy’ or ‘set apart.’ It can refer to godly people or even holy objects. The word was also used to describe God’s relationship to his people who were set aside for his holy purposes (see Exodus 19:6).

The New Testament Greek word for ‘saint’ is ‘hagios’, which carries a similar meaning of being ‘consecrated to God,’ ‘holy,’ ‘sacred’ or ‘pious’ and is used predominantly in the plural, ‘saints.’ So, in the most basic sense, ‘saints’ are holy people, set apart for God’s special purposes.

When we turn to the stream of Christian Tradition, we see a development from the general to the particular. Increasingly so, saints were seen as holy individuals who had gone before, who lived inspirational lives of devotion to God. They were recognised as those who had so embodied Christlike living that they were seen as noteworthy examples of what it can look like to follow Jesus.

Since the Protestant Reformation of the 16th Century, some Christians have objected to this development, describing it as ‘unbiblical,’ But I don’t think this is necessarily the case. In fact, I think that the Bible actually endorses the Traditional understanding.

Hebrews, Chapter 11, offers a catalogue of Old Testament Saints who exemplified faithful living. This ‘Hall Room of Saints,’ as it is commonly called, is immediately followed by these words in Chapter 12:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

The imagery that is being used here is of the Roman amphitheatres - much like the Colosseum - where the Saints of Old, who have finished their race, now cheer from the tiers, as those who come after, run theirs.

One of the major Protestant objections to the Traditional understanding is that, in elevating those considered to be ‘canonised saints,’ the focus is taken off Jesus.

This is certainly not the intention, nor what this passage is encouraging. Rather, Christians are to be encouraged by the saints who have run before, whilst keeping their eyes on Jesus, who is the origin and destination of their faith.

What is so enriching about the Traditional view is that there are now so many more in the stadium, cheering us on, as we not only have the Old and New Testament Saints to inspire us, but a plethora more, who over the past 2000 years, having demonstrated how best to run the race of faith, have since joined the heavenly cheer squad.

This is why I have taken the time to offer a sketch of the lives of each of our House Saints over this past term, that their inspirational examples may spur us on to greater heights.

Have a great break!

Blessings,

Reverend Lyndon.

Business Breakfast - The Cost of Doing Business

Lindisfarne Business Network Breakfast: "The Cost of Doing Business"

Last Friday morning, the school proudly hosted our final Lindisfarne Business Network Breakfast for 2025. Held in the stunning new Senior Centre, this was the first time this event has been held onsite.

Attended by members of the Lindisfarne Business Network, school partners, staff, and Year 10 and 12 Business and Commerce students, the event focused on a timely and engaging theme: "The Cost of Doing Business."

We were honoured to welcome three insightful guest speakers:

Aymon Gow, General Manager of Tropical Fruit World; Jane Laverty, Regional Director of Business NSW and Dean Gould, Marketing and Communications Consultant.

Each speaker shared their perspectives on the challenges and considerations businesses face in today’s economic climate, before joining together for a lively and informative panel discussion. The panel was expertly moderated by Year 12 Business students Maya and Will, who posed thoughtful and well-researched questions that sparked valuable dialogue among our guests.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to our speakers for generously sharing their time and expertise, and to all attendees for contributing to a meaningful and memorable morning.

A live cross to the Chapel then took guests to the Year 8 “24 Hour Run”, an event managed by Year 8 students and staff to fundraise for the Sleep Bus Project.

There was great excitement in the Chapel and at the Breakfast, as the students and staff embarked on their fundraising mission, running on treadmills, non-stop for 24 hours.

Special thanks go to our Business Network Partners for their support throughout 2025. Particularly JB HiFi Education, Victory Ford, Southern Cross University, Mortgage Choice–Jo Croft, Club Tweed and Westpac.

We look forward to hosting more Business Network events in 2026 as we continue to build connections between students, educators, and the wider business community.

If you’re interested in becoming a member of the Lindisfarne Business Network, please contact Susannah Jepson at susannah.jepson@lindisfarne.nsw.edu.au.

Year 3 History Expo

On Wednesday, our school was buzzing with excitement as Year 3 hosted their History Expo! Students proudly showcased weeks of research and preparation, sharing their knowledge and understanding of celebrations and commemorations from around the world. It was wonderful to see them explaining their chosen topics with such confidence - from Chinese New Year, Diwali, and the gorgeous Cherry Blossom festival in Japan, to Hanukkah, St Patrick’s Day, and many, many more. Our undercover space was alive with colour, energy and curiosity as families, students and teachers explored each booth.

Our Year 3 learners impressed everyone with their teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm. Thoughtful questions were asked, conversations were sparked and it was clear just how much effort had gone into preparing their presentations. We are so proud of the way students embraced this challenge and shared their learning with such joy - a fantastic culminating experience that brought their History unit to life!

Building Character, Confidence, and Connection in Year 1

Last Friday, Year 1 had the wonderful opportunity to take part in an engaging Character Builders incursion, and what a day it was! The program brought energy, laughter, and plenty of learning, all while focusing on the importance of teamwork, resilience, and positive peer connections.

Throughout the day, students were immersed in authentic, hands-on experiences that promoted collaboration, communication, and social skills, tools that will serve them well as lifelong learners. It was heartwarming to watch the children take the time to “big up” their teammates, offering genuine encouragement and celebrating each other’s successes. Their smiles and uplifting words were as inspiring as the activities themselves.

The excitement reached new heights with the invention of imaginative and spirited team war cries. Our Red, Blue, and Green teams proudly chanted their slogans, filling the playground with laughter, colour, and camaraderie. These moments of creativity highlighted not only their growing confidence but also their ability to work together towards a shared goal.

Perhaps the most memorable event of the day was the obstacle course, where students demonstrated tenacity, persistence, and teamwork. Whether running, crawling, or hoola-hooping, every child pushed themselves to succeed, cheered on by their teammates every step of the way.

The Character Builders incursion was more than just a fun day; it was an empowering experience that helped Year 1 students build resilience, strengthen friendships, and develop skills and strategies to work effectively in teams. We are so proud of the way they embraced the day.

Year 7 Leadership Day

On Thursday, 25 September, our Year 7 students gathered at Ngahriyah for a day of activities designed to strengthen leadership skills and build confidence.

The program began with presentations on Leadership at Lindisfarne, encouraging students to reflect on the everyday actions that shape their influence and legacy. Through a series of workshops and team challenges, students explored communication, collaboration and problem-solving in a practical, hands-on setting.

Reflection sessions invited students to identify their own leadership strengths and recognise peers who demonstrated positive influence throughout the day.

This experience now leads into Year 7 leadership opportunities, where students can nominate for Middle School Captain and Vice-Captain roles, as well as House Captain positions. Nominations will open early in Term 4, preparing the way for the 2026 leadership team.

Wrapping Up Term 3

7H Bake Sale

The Bake Sale, run by Class 7H on Thursday, 18th September, was a lively affair that attracted students and staff from across the school community. Carefully planned over several weeks as part of the Discover Ed program, the event showcased the hard work, teamwork, and creativity of the class. With the goal of raising funds for Fred’s Place, a local charity, the students managed to turn their efforts into a remarkable success.

In the lead-up, 7H put together a strong advertising and marketing campaign. Posters were placed around the school to catch the eye of potential customers, while a student-designed website provided updates and information about the event. These strategies ensured the bake sale was very well attended, with excitement building long before the doors opened.

On the day, tables overflowed with cakes, biscuits, slices, and other sweet treats. A particular highlight was the ice cream spiders, which proved to be a big hit with the crowd. Their popularity quickly highlighted an important real-world lesson: supply and demand. Through this, students learned first-hand how quickly high-demand products can sell out and how careful planning is needed when running even a small business venture.

The atmosphere throughout the day was warm and inviting, with the 7H students enthusiastically serving their customers and engaging with the community. Demand was so strong that every product sold out, and many people commented on the quality of both the food and the organisation.

By the end of the event, the students had raised over $600 for Fred’s Place. This fantastic result reflected the generosity of the school community and the determination of the class. More than just a fundraiser, the bake sale was a valuable Discover Ed learning experience in enterprise, teamwork, and community spirit. Without doubt, it was a huge success.

Year 10 Service Learning

Service Learning is an important part of the Year 10 program. Throughout the year, groups have visited Fred’s Place in Tweed Heads. As well as assisting at the centre, we often hear from organisations serving our community. This week, students were fortunate to learn from Community Corrections. We gained insight into their work in justice, including the increased use of ankle monitors and what community corrections orders might entail. In particular, we learnt about the efforts being made to to minimise repeat offending along with what a regular day working in this field might look like. We are thankful for the ongoing support of Darren at Fred’s Place as our students continue to learn a range of perspectives about the world in which they live and the positive contributions they can make.

Our Friends From Taiwan

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming three Taiwanese students - Ryan, Ryder, and Amber - to our Sunshine Avenue and Mahers Lane campuses. During their short-term stay, they experienced the richness of school life in Australia, engaging in academic, artistic, sporting, and cultural opportunities while also exploring the beauty of our local region.

Each student embraced the Lindisfarne spirit, thriving in our supportive environment, making new friends, and sharing their own culture along the way. Their time with us not only strengthened their fondness for our school but also showcased the value of cross-cultural connections.

A heartfelt thank you to our staff and students for warmly welcoming the Chang family and ensuring their time at Lindisfarne was such a memorable and inclusive experience.

Rowing QLD School State Championships

Regatta Report

A huge congratulations to all of our rowers, parents, and staff who made the trip to the QLD School State Championships over the weekend. I received so much positive feedback about the development of our program, and it was fantastic to see Lindisfarne Rowing represented so strongly on the water.

Championship Highlight

The standout performance of the weekend came from Ayla Drury, who secured two silver medals in the Year 10 and Year 11 single scull finals. Ayla progressed through heats and semi-finals in both age groups before claiming 2nd place in each final, an incredible achievement against some of the state’s strongest competition, including current national champions.

Results Summary

In the Year 11 double, Annabelle O’Grady and Olivia Dunphy placed 8th in their heat, finishing with a determined final push. The Year 10 doubles produced some excellent racing, with Ayla Drury and Zara Wyatt reaching the final and finishing 5th, Ashlee MacKinder and Maeve Swanson rowing strongly through to the semi-final but narrowly missing the final, and Olivia Dunphy and Ivy Frost handling tough conditions well in their heat. In the singles, Ayla Drury was outstanding, securing silver medals in both the Year 10 and Year 11 events. Zara Wyatt raced well to progress through her heat into the semi-final in the Year 10 single, just missing the final, while Maeve Swanson delivered an excellent performance to make the Year 10 final – a huge achievement. Ashlee MacKinder (Year 9) also impressed, progressing through her heat and narrowly missing a place in the final. Both the Year 10 and Year 11 quads progressed to their finals, with special thanks to Willow Veldhoven, who did an outstanding job coxing all quad races.

These results highlight the depth, development, and determination within our program. From Ayla’s double silver medals to the strong team performances across all boats, the Championships were a milestone moment for Lindisfarne Rowing. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the Term 4 regattas.

Lindisfarne Football 6v6 Tournament

A couple of weeks ago, four teams made up of our year 5 and 6 students represented the school at the 6v6 Football Tournament at Arkinstall Park. Two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams competed on the day, with all students showing exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude throughout.

The boys’ teams performed strongly in their pool matches, both progressing to the semi-finals. After two hard-fought games, the boys finished the day in 2nd and 4th place overall—a fantastic achievement against some very competitive opposition.

Meanwhile, the girls’ teams took part in a round robin competition, playing against each other in a series of closely contested matches. The ladder was tightly contested, and it was wonderful to see one of our Lindisfarne teams claim the top spot.

The standard of play across all teams was excellent, and it was pleasing to see the students represent the school with such pride, determination, and respect for the game. Teachers and coaches were thoroughly impressed with the effort and commitment shown by every player. An extra special mention to all the older students who dedicated their time and effort to help coach the teams and referee the games.

Congratulations to all involved on an enjoyable and successful day of football.

Touch Football Secondary Kings Cup

Last week, the Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar Touch Football teams proudly represented the school at the 2025 Kings Cup Touch Football Tournament, fielding teams across five divisions: U15 Girls, Open Mixed, Open Girls, U13 Girls and U13 Boys. Each team showcased great spirit, skill, and sportsmanship, competing strongly against schools from across the region.

Our players embraced the challenge with determination and teamwork, reflecting the Lindisfarne values both on and off the field. The tournament provided an excellent opportunity for our athletes to test themselves in a highly competitive environment and to continue developing their touch football skills in the lead up to the Queensland All Schools event in the second week of the school holidays.

A special congratulations goes to Mr Fisher & our U13 Girls team, who played with outstanding energy and resilience across their pool matches. Recording an impressive four wins from five games, the girls narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot. Their efforts were a standout of the tournament and a credit to their commitment and teamwork at training.

Another special shout out to the U13 Boys team, who won two games, drew one and lost two by only one try. The U13 Boys have been working incredibly hard this term on defensive shapes, and their goal was to keep all games under 5 tries against at the Kings Cup. They achieved this goal and are ready and firing for Queensland All Schools come October.

We are incredibly proud of all our players who wore the Lindisfarne colours with pride, and gratitude extends to our coaches, Mr Fisher, Miss Ryan, Mr Brown & Miss Smith and families for their support throughout the event.

AFLQ Schools Cup Regional Finals Primary Boys & Girls

Thursday last week saw the regional finals for the AFLQ Schools Cup Primary Division, with Lindisfarne fielding a girls' and boys' team. This year, there has been a slight adjustment to the structure of the AFLQ Primary Schools competition, with progression to the next rounds based on school participation in AFLQ football programs and curriculum. Luckily for us, Lindisfarne is well ahead in these areas.

Outside of this, the boys and girls played some great footy across all of their games. The girls battled hard across their three games against All Saints, Miami and Marymount. They attacked the footy and improved across the day. The hot and blustery conditions were unforgiving, but the girls acquitted themselves very well.

The boys were equally impressive. Whilst there was no keeping score from AFLQ, my basic mathematical brain had us in front across all four games. When the boys attack the footy and look to share it around, they can play a very attacking style. Their commitment to the contest and willingness to compete will stand them in good stead.

At the time of writing this report, we were just waiting for confirmation that Lindisfarne will progress to the next round. A detailed plan, should this occur, will be shared with players and families if this happens.

NCIS 15&U Secondary Football

Although a few months behind schedule, the NCIS U15 boys and girls teams headed south to Coffs Harbour. The girls were the class act of the field, remaining unbeaten and winning the final in convincing fashion, 4-0. Skipper Charli Wiegand had the troops firing, and the girls played classy football throughout the day.

The boys also had a very strong showing, securing the second spot out of 7 teams. Flynn Cairncross was our top scorer for the day, with a significant number of players hitting the scoresheet. They outscored their opponents 19-2 across 6 games, but lost a nailbiter 2-1 to the eventual champions from Emmanuel College (Ballina).

Many thanks to Mr Lewis Saunders and Mrs Linda Harrison for their big efforts throughout the day.

QLD ALL SCHOOLS 7s

Our boys and girls U18, U16 and U14 7s squads travelled up to play in the QLD All Schools 7s tournament on Friday and Saturday of last week. The All Schools 7s is Queensland's largest schoolboy and schoolgirl rugby 7s competition and is a state-wide competition for all schools in Queensland.

U18 BOYS

Day 1: v Matthew Flinders 19-14, v Ipswich Grammar 0-43, v North Lakes 19-19
Day 2: v Downlands 5-29, v Canterbury 24-14

Final placing: 7th

Although our U18 Boys were without two of our key players, Koen Hodge and Bailey Le Brese, the QLD All Schools 7s were a great opportunity for our boys to test themselves against some of the best schools in Queensland. This included games against eventual winners Ipswich Grammar in pool play on Day 1 and Downlands College in the Plate semifinal on Day 2, where we competed strongly and the score did not reflect the nature of the game. Highlights included a tight win over Matthew Flinders and then a great win against Canterbury College in the 7 v 8th place playoff, which sent our Y12 boys off as winners.

The standouts for our U18 boys were Sam Stovin, Max Reid, Mani Lopez, Lincoln Dell, Timana Andrews and Jesse Bravington. Sam, Max and Timana all showed great speed in attack and were tenacious on defence, with Timana also displaying a “do not argue” fend when given space to move. Mani Lopez and Lincoln Dell were also impressive with their passing and creativity in the middle of the field and were ably supported by Jesse Bravington, who was a titan on defence and had some very strong carries with the ball in hand. It was also great to see the improvement in skills and confidence of some of our Y12 boys, like Finley Watson and Charlie Semler, who were relatively new to rugby, and Fletcher Bruhn, who was one of our U16 boys who stepped up to play in this tournament. Lastly, this experience will stand this group of Y11 boys, like Lincoln, Timana, Fletcher, Albert Stainlay-Werrin and Eddie Esgate, extremely well for the 2026 1st XV season.

U16 BOYS

Day 1: v Matthew Flinders 47-0, v Ipswich Grammar 5-50, v North Lakes 29-12
Day 2: v St John’s College 7-31, v North Lakes 43-0, v Canterbury College 24-10

Final placing: 9th

The 2025 season finished on a high with a classy Bowl Final win over Canterbury College. Despite their opponents boasting individual threats, the U16S played as a cohesive unit and proved too strong.

Will King delivered his best game of the tournament in the final, while Matty Dunn sealed his Lindisfarne “Player of the Tournament” honours with a long-range try that showcased his speed, decisiveness, and destructive play on both sides of the ball. Chase Wilson impressed with his consistent kick-offs, repeatedly allowing the athletic Archie Loemker to reclaim or contest possession.

The team started in style, posting 47 unanswered points in their opening match. Overall, they won four of six games, highlighted by a crucial turnaround on Day 2. After a sluggish first outing, the boys chose to reset, show up on time, and attack their preparation with intent. That decision sparked two strong wins, including the Bowl Final, earning them the title of QLD All Schools Bowl Champions.

Individually, Austin Lowes showcased his rapid growth in the 7s through his intensity, pace, and improved catch-pass game, while newcomer Guy Henry was embraced by the group and, alongside Dunn, earned Defensive MVP honours for his bravery, timing, and technique.

Most pleasing was how this group supported each other and the wider Lindisfarne teams across the weekend, showing maturity, unity, and spirit both on and off the field.

U14 BOYS

The U14 Lindisfarne Lions wrapped up their 2025 rugby season in style at the Queensland All Schools 7s tournament, hosted by Brisbane Grammar School last weekend. Drawn in a tough pool alongside Ipswich Grammar, St John’s Nambour, and North Lakes State High, the Lions rose to the challenge and played some of their best rugby of the year. After three outstanding performances on Friday, they finished top of their pool and advanced confidently into the knockout stages.

In the Quarter Final, the boys faced St Columban’s College from Caboolture. In a tense and physical encounter, the Lions displayed composure and clinical finishing to claim a 17–10 victory and book their place in the semi-final against the formidable Brisbane State High School. This clash proved to be the match of the tournament for the Lions, as they dominated possession and applied relentless pressure, twice coming within centimetres of the try line. Despite their brave effort, they were narrowly beaten, but the performance was a true testament to the team’s growth and resilience.

The weekend concluded with a 3rd place playoff against King’s Christian College. Fatigue was setting in after five demanding games, but the Lions produced one final inspired performance, running out 19–0 winners with a display of clinical attack and resolute defence.

Finishing third overall in such a competitive tournament is an outstanding achievement. The Lions should be immensely proud of their efforts, teamwork, and growth throughout the season, ending 2025 on a real high.

It is impossible to choose standout players as every member played their role exceptionally well. Finn Jones and Dale Piper are playing up in the U14S, Freddy Tavares, Oli Wilson, Campbell Patterson, and Lou Robin making up the formidable forwards. Jake Castle, Charlie Dunn, Theo Searle, Ewen Edwards, Oliver Costello, Adam Blinco, and Jack Brown in the beastly backs, all led by captain Coby Ellison.

U18 GIRLS

It was always going to be a special tournament for our U18 girls, with it being the last time 5 of our girls got to play for LAGS. Ruby Power, Tiggi Groves, Zoe Marshall, Seannah Weston and Lois Diver have all contributed such a huge amount to our girls' rugby programme over the last few years. It was an awesome effort to see these girls stick with rugby throughout their Y12 year, with so many other demands outside of rugby. A special mention must go to our Girls Rugby Captain, Ruby Power, for her dedication to the sport, her professionalism and outstanding attitude. Ruby has been a fantastic leader and role model throughout her time here at Lindisfarne.

This was on full display throughout the two days, and her team followed right behind her against some very tough opposition.

All of our games were tough, and we ended the tournament with 1 win and 4 losses, although the continued progress made by the girls was impressive, highlighted by an outstanding last game where we lost 15-14 in a very close battle with a 4th place finish for our girls. It was a great last game where the girls fought for everything and clearly wanted to end on a high note, not just for themselves but for their team.

All girls played well across the two days, but it was Shelby Osborne who received the player of the tournament award for her best displays yet for LAGS, being rewarded with two tries, one a particularly good individual try alongside some very impressive defence.

The other girls in the team also really stood up, starting with Lois Diver, displaying her huge work rate and a never-give-up attitude, no matter what the score, which was as impressive as always.

Zoe Marshall ran with authority and showed much more confidence than in the past, really backing herself with the ball in hand, which was great to see.

Seannah Weston showed some nice touches in attack and aggression in defence, which was needed to shut down the opposition.

Tiggi Groves, as always, was a dominant force at the ruck and in the tackle, also showing some nice touches on attack.

Finally, our 2026 rugby captain, Ruby Lynch, played every match with wonderful enthusiasm, skill and determination, highlighting why she will do a great job in 2026 as Girls Rugby Captain. Always positive, smiling, great with the younger girls in other teams and just a super role model to follow in the footsteps of Ruby Power.

Well done, girls. Everyone who was there supporting you last weekend was very proud of all your hard work and achievements.

U16 GIRLS

Our U16 girls team were hoping to head to All Schools with stronger numbers than we ended up with, which ultimately cut short our tournament on the second day.

We started strongly after having slow starts to our tournaments. The girls were really focused and played incredibly well in a close loss to Sunshine Coast Grammar, going down 15-12. It was a game we could’ve easily won, but it was a great confidence booster for our girls. Our second game was against The Glennie School, one of the best girls' rugby schools in Queensland, who ended up losing the final to a strong King's College team. Again, our girls played exceptionally well but went down 34-7.

Our third and final game of the day was against John Paul College, where we lost Sienna Wright to injury and played over half of the game with only 6 players, which proved too much for our girls, going down 27-7.

It was a great first day overall, and it was great to see the wonderful spirit amongst the girls on Day Two when they couldn’t play, but they still supported all the other teams and helped out where they could.

Player of the tournament went to Sooke Paley, whose relentless work rate on defence, hitting close to 100% of her tackles and scoring some excellent tries again, has highlighted her outstanding potential in Rugby 7’s.

U14 GIRLS

Our recently formed U14 Girls team were incredibly excited to hear they had been accepted into the All Schools 7’s, even with their lack of experience and training, also knowing that other schools had played lots of rugby previously.

We were always confident that they would hold their own, and this is exactly what they did. The result was that it is clear that our girls' rugby programme is in good hands if these girls and the ones who unfortunately didn’t get to participate continue to play and develop their skills and understanding.

Their enthusiasm, willingness to learn and ability to improve from game to game were a pleasure to witness.

Out of 16 schools in the U14 grade, this group ended up coming 7th. They claimed 7th place by winning their final game against Redcliffe State High School 21-20 with a converted try in the final play of the game.

The girls got to play at two of the top schools in Stretton State College and The Glennie School, where they could see where they needed to get to, to compete with these schools. This challenge excited our girls.

The other victories came against Brigidine College and St John's College, and a close loss after a superb second-half comeback against Good Samaritan.

The whole squad of 13 played well throughout the weekend, but it was hard to go past Sofia Hawkins as player of the tournament. Her work rate was unbelievable in both attack and defence, never taking a backwards step with a fearless attitude. Her sister Zoe was right on her tail the whole weekend, and both girls clearly have a bright future representing the school in rugby 7’s. Winnie Humphries was also outstanding, particularly on attack with outstanding pace, scoring many tries on the outside. Another hidden talent was her ability to kick conversions, which ultimately won us our final game.

It really was a team effort throughout the weekend, and all the girls who represented the school should be very proud of themselves. It is so great to see you are already excited about the chance to play again.

Physio Place Sponsorship

The Lindisfarne Rugby Program is very fortunate to have the Physio Place from Tweed Heads as a sponsor in 2025. Physio Place is one of the leading physiotherapy practices on the Gold Coast and is headed up by one of our Lindisfarne alumni, Dr Carly Jennar. Dr Jennar has an extensive background in contact sports and currently works with the Tweed Seagulls Rugby League Cup squad, the Brisbane Broncos NRLW team, the QLD Women’s State of Origin team and has been to two Rugby League World Cups with both the Australian and Papua New Guinea Women’s National teams. You can find out more about the team of staff at Physio Place HERE.

As part of this sponsorship, Physio Place will provide Lindisfarne rugby players and families with discounted physiotherapy consultations ($30 reduction in charges) at Physio Place in Tweed Heads (next to Rebel Sport). They will also assist with:

  • Physiotherapy support and first aid during home games

  • Strapping at a suitable time before home and away games for players at school

  • Triage for any injured players at the school the day after match days or tournaments;

  • Physiotherapy support for major tournaments (e.g., Ballymore Cup and QLD All Schools) at tournament locations.

If you need physiotherapy or have any injuries, please contact Physio Place on (07) 55239994, or you can also book online at their website HERE.

Monday After School (Y7-12) and Tuesday Before School (Open Boys 7s Wider Squad) Training

In Term 3, our main training sessions outside of school time are on Monday after school (1530-1645) for all Y7-12 players and Tuesday before school until the end of P1 (0700-0940) for the U18 and U16 7s training squad on the following dates in September: 2/9, 9/9 and 16/9. Rugby union is a team sport, and we still need as many of our players to be in attendance week in and week out to grow the Lindisfarne rugby program. If there is any way we can be of assistance to help facilitate this, please let us know.

Also, please note we will NOT be sending reminders for these training sessions (all players and families should assume our Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning training sessions will ALWAYS BE ON); however, we will let you all know with as much time as possible if we need to cancel a session due to weather or other factors.

School Uniform and Training Attire

Students should be in proper training attire (NOT school sports uniform) with a mouthguard, boots and any other equipment they play with for every training session. This requirement also includes integrated school sport on Thursday, i.e., students should wear our rugby training top or similar and not the school sport polo at this time. Alongside this, students should have a towel and a spare school uniform to change into in case there is wet weather.

Outside of rugby training times, students should be in the correct uniform, which includes wearing the school sport polo on Thursday in P1-2 and P5-6 and in PE lessons and not rugby training tops.

Stack Team APP

The Stack Team app will be our Rugby Union program’s main form of communication for all our squads.

As a reminder, both parents and Boys’ / Girls’ 7s students who have parental permission for smartphones will need to download the app and join the Lindisfarne Rugby Program in the app.

To download the Stack team app, use the following links:

● iOS: https://www.teamapp.com/ios-ap...

● Android: https://www.teamapp.com/androi...

Once downloaded, please search for 'Lindisfarne Rugby Program' and request to join.

Lindisfarne TV - Episode 41

This week’s episode features highlights from Bullying No Way Week, including powerful moments from our campus-wide awareness campaign. We also explore the growing popularity of skateboarding as a school sport and what it means for students keen to try something different.

In leadership news, we introduce the 2026 School Captains and reflect on the incredible efforts of the 2025 leadership team as they officially hand over their roles.

We also mark a significant moment in the LTV journey as we farewell one of our original and most influential members, Olivia Danesi. From LTV’s humble beginnings, Olivia has been a driving force behind its growth, serving as a passionate Content Director and an inspiring mentor to younger students. Her creativity, consistency, and work ethic have shaped the culture of our team and left a lasting impression on our school community.

Many of you will know Olivia from her countless hours both in front of and behind the camera. Her leadership and legacy will no doubt continue to influence the next generation of LTV storytellers.
