Foreword

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the culmination of Term 4, I want to thank you for your continued engagement in the life of our School. It is a season full of celebration and achievement, and this week was no exception.

Tonight, I am looking forward to hosting the Principal’s Evening of Thanks. It is always a special event on the Lindisfarne calendar, and I hope to see many of you there as we gather in celebration. A reminder that the event is in the Senior Centre on the Mahers Lane campus and starts at 5.45pm NSW Time.

Earlier this week, I wrote to families regarding two serious incidents involving Middle School students in the Tweed Heads area. Both students were approached or followed by an unknown man and a white van in separate events. Thankfully, both students are safe, and NSW Police are actively investigating.

These events serve as a timely reminder for us all to stay vigilant. I urge families to review personal safety practices with their children and to report any suspicious behaviour immediately to NSW Police and the School.

Our pastoral and wellbeing staff are here to support any students who feel anxious or concerned. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s Dean of Students or the relevant sub-school leader.

In another important communication, I shared news of a nationwide recall of coloured sand products that may contain tremolite asbestos. We conducted a full audit of both campuses and confirmed that no affected products are in use at Lindisfarne and have suspended the use of all coloured sand products, regardless of brand, while this alert is in place. We are closely monitoring updates from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

For further information, including details of affected products, please refer to the ACCC Recall Notice.

Our Kokoda trekkers returned on Thursday after a 10-day expedition along the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. This was a historic first for our school and the culmination of years of planning, as six students and five staff completed the Track. Their gruelling journey in the footsteps of our diggers who fought in the Kokoda campaign was one of personal and team achievement. Each member should be proud of completing the Track, and I thank them for the spirit and enthusiasm with which they undertook the expedition. I would like to acknowledge Kelly Bedford and Julie McDowell, who spent more than two years planning this trip, for their dedication to the Kokoda program and for supporting another significant student experience at Lindisfarne.

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of signing a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gerard Robinson from Club Tweed, continuing our longstanding partnership and commitment to shared community development. These collaborations help expand opportunities and provide support beyond the classroom for our students and families.

Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons saw our talented Junior School Concert Band and Strings students take to the stage at Sunshine Avenue for their final concerts of the year. The performances were joyful and heartwarming, showcasing the progress and confidence our students have built this year. Thank you to our Performing Arts staff and Senior School students for their dedication and guidance of our youngest performers.

A reminder that there are still a number of significant events on our school calendar, and I urge parents and students to attend all relevant events until we conclude the year.

  • Junior School Nativity - Monday, 24 November 2.00pm.

  • The Rite Journey Homecoming (Year 9) - Tuesday, 25 November 6.30pm.

  • ELC Christmas Concert - Wednesday, 26 November 9.00am.

  • Year 10 Dinner Dance - Friday, 28 November 5.30pm (arrivals).

  • Lindisfarne Advent and Community Carols Service - Sunday, 30 November 4.30pm for refreshments and 5.00pm Service.

  • Junior School Speech Day - Monday, 1 December 11.00am.

  • Middle School Speech Day - Tuesday, 2 December 11.00am.

  • Senior School Speech Day - Wednesday, 3 December 11.00am.

Finally, we are thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of Fergus Hogan, 2024 School Captain and recent graduate, whose debut single “Run It Back” has just launched on Spotify.

Over the past few weeks, Fergus has been in Los Angeles recording with top industry professionals, including sessions at Warner Studios and a showcase on the iconic Sunset Strip. We could not be prouder of his success and look forward to following his creative journey.

Wishing you all a safe and restful weekend.

Warm regards,

Dear Members of the Lindisfarne School Community,

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

As we gradually come to the end of term 4 and the 2025 academic year, let us take a moment to give thanks to God for all the blessings and graces of this year, as well as acknowledge and thank all our dedicated staff, parents, guardians, carers and all those who have been bearers of hope and human lighthouses for our young people. May the Lord bless you with health, peace, joy and abundance, and may all our young people finish the year well and become the marvels God has created them to be.

Please assist us in sharing the Christmas joy this year with The Tweed Women’s and Children’s Refuge and Kids in Need (KIN) organisations, who care for the most vulnerable members of our community by donating gift cards or monetary donations to assist their work. Students are asked to bring these donations to their homeroom or classroom teachers or to leave them under the Christmas trees in the School libraries. Thank you immensely for your usual generosity and kindness.

Hope Walk #2 for Indigenous Education

On Wednesday, 3 December, we will set out on Hope Walk #2– Walking for Hope Vale, a journey from St James Kingscliff to St Mark’s Pottsville.

This is more than just a walk, it’s a journey of Ubuntu, solidarity, compassion, and hope.

Our first Hope Walk last June raised $11,600 to sponsor a child from the remote Aboriginal community of Hope Vale in Far North Queensland, helping them access the life-changing opportunity of boarding school at Toowoomba Anglican School. For many children in Hope Vale, boarding school opens the door to education, opportunity, personal growth, and a brighter future. If you would like to be involved, please register HERE. Please note that only registered participants are able to walk.

We need at least another $11,000 to reach our target and to open the door to a great future for a Hope Vale student. To donate, please click HERE. Every step, every dollar, and every voice counts. Thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you for all you do and for who you are. May the Lord grant you and your loved ones His richest blessings in every way.

Chaplain

Bus Information

For new students enrolled for 2026 who require a Lindisfarne Bus, please submit a bus application, at your earliest convenience. Link is on our website.

Students who currently travel on a Lindisfarne Bus, DO NOT need to reapply.

The Lindisfarne buses provide a service for students registered to travel to and from the closest bus stop to the residential address of the family. The Lindisfarne Bus service does not have the capacity to meet requests such as transport for students to swap buses for travel to other locations for sport, work, social or other reasons.

Should your child need to attend such an activity, we advise you to make alternative arrangements, like carpooling, to transport your child to their event.

ConnectED 2025/26 Device Exchange

Planning is well advanced for the 2026 ConnectEd device rollover, which will see significant upgrades across our technology program.

From 2026, all staff and students will transition to the Apple MacBook Air M4, while current iPads (10th Gen) will continue to be used as part of the device program.

For the first time, staff and students will also have the opportunity to purchase their current MacBook Air M2 device for $800 (inc. GST). This process begins with completing an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the form provided.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfV3RAnVuKjcU4SybtBqi7hBaiifgPQGjDo6Sag5V0zjKQUhQ/viewform?usp=dialog

EOIs close on Friday 10th October 2025 at 5.00pm, with full payment required by Monday 10th November 2025 at 5.00pm. Ownership of purchased devices will transfer to continuing staff and students on Monday 10th November 2025. Devices will then be the property of the purchaser, with no further support or responsibility carried by the School. Any staff or students who purchase their device will still be provided with a new MacBook for use at the school along with everyone else.

More details will be shared in the months ahead, but the device rollover schedule will occur as follows:

  • Part One: Students in Years 7–12 will return their current MacBook Air at a scheduled time in the week beginning 17 November 2025.

  • Part Two: Students will receive their new MacBook Air at a whole-cohort induction session on the first day of the 2026 school year. (Year 12, 2026 and accelerants will complete their induction and exchange for their new device in Term 4 this year.)

Staff, Year 12 (2026) and accelerated students will be upgraded in the final weeks of this year, enabling them to use their new M4 devices across the holiday break. Students K-6 will have their tech needs managed within their classgroup. IT will provide full support for data transfer to ensure a seamless transition.

Junior School

Head of Junior School

As we move toward the end of the year, there’s a wonderful sense of excitement building across our Junior School. We have a number of upcoming events that will shine a light on the creativity, confidence and talent of our students, and I’m delighted to share these with you.

Our Christmas Play and Chapel Service will be held on 24 November at 2.00pm, and we warmly invite families to come along and celebrate this special occasion with us.

A couple of days later, on 26 November at 9.00am, our ELC students will take to the stage for their ELC Christmas Concert – always one of the real highlights of our festive season. This will be followed by a relaxed morning tea in our beautiful Paperbark Forest. We hope you can join us for what is always a joyful morning of music, connection and community.

I would also like to express my sincere thanks to our parents for their enthusiastic support of this week’s concerts, featuring our Year 4 class’s Brass and Woodwind performances, and our fabulous Strings Ensembles. Their preparation and hard work were evident on stage, and it was wonderful to see their growth and confidence. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our senior students who ably and professionally supported and mentored our younger performers throughout the event. Their leadership and encouragement added so much to the experience, and we are grateful for the positive role models they continue to be within our school community. A special thank you must go to Mr Edwards, Mr Kennedy, Mrs O’Donnell and our dedicated team of music tutors. Their expertise, encouragement and commitment make these opportunities possible, and we are incredibly grateful for the way they support our students.

Looking ahead, we invite all families and friends to join us for our final celebration of the year, Speech Day on Monday, 1 December, from 11.00 am at our Mahers Lane Campus, Ngahriyah. This event brings our whole community together as we recognise the achievements, growth and spirit of our students. It’s always a meaningful occasion, and we look forward to sharing it with you. As mentioned previously, if your child is going to be absent for Speech Day, please email me directly as well as complete the absentee process via Parent Lounge/SEQTA.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our Junior School community. It’s a privilege to celebrate the achievements and spirit of our students alongside you.

Fun Swimming Carnival Kindy - Year 2

Despite the rainy, overcast weather, our 2025 FUN Swimming Carnival was an incredible success! The light showers certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of our resilient Kindergarten to Year 2 students—or their wonderful families. Smiles, laughter, and splashes filled the air as everyone embraced the conditions and made the most of a fantastic day.

The carnival kicked off with Year 2 students jumping straight into their races, showing off the swimming skills they’ve been building throughout the learn to swim program. From noodle races to kickboard challenges, the Learn to swim pool was alive with excitement. The cheering from classmates and spectators echoed across the grounds, proving once again what a supportive and enthusiastic community we have. Every student gave their very best, and it was clear they were loving every moment!

A huge thank you goes to our incredible parent helpers, who showed amazing positivity and flexibility despite the weather. Whether they were assisting in the pool, organising students, cooking or serving sausages at the BBQ or keeping spirits high on the sidelines, their presence played a huge role in making the day run smoothly. Their willingness to get involved—rain or shine—was truly appreciated.

We also extend our gratitude to Jo Croft from Mortgage Choice for once again sponsoring the BBQ lunch. The warm sausage sandwiches were especially popular this year, offering the perfect comfort food on a cool and drizzly day.

In the end, the 2025 FUN Swimming Carnival was a shining example of the strength and joy of our school community. Even with the grey skies overhead, the laughter, encouragement, and energy from our students and families made it a bright and memorable event. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a wonderful celebration of fun, resilience, and community spirit!

BIG BASH Cricket Day

Get ready, Junior School—the BIG BASH is back and it’s shaping up to be an action-packed day of cricket, colour, and community spirit! On Friday, 28 November 2025, all Year 3 and Year 4 students will take to the fields for our highly anticipated Junior School Cricket Big Bash Tournament, held right here at the Sunshine Avenue Campus.

From 9.00am to 2.00pm, students will rotate through games on both the back oval and Arkinstall Park, bringing plenty of excitement and energy to what promises to be one of the standout sporting events of the year. As this event takes place during normal school hours, all students are required to attend and will be taken out to participate during their usual class times.

In true Big Bash style, students will be placed into teams and are encouraged to come dressed in their team colours. We can’t wait to see the vibrant sea of jerseys and shirts across the fields! Please ensure all clothing is sunsafe, comfortable, and suitable for running and playing cricket throughout the day.

To stay fuelled and ready for action, students will need to bring:

  • Lunch and snacks

  • A refillable water bottle

  • Hat and sunscreen

Aa always an exciting addition to this year’s tournament is the involvement of students from the High School Cricket Program, who will be supporting the day as Umpires and Field Marshals. Their guidance and leadership will help ensure our young cricketers enjoy a smooth, well-run, and memorable experience.

We’re gearing up for a fantastic day of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun—so dust off those cricket skills, get your colours ready, and prepare for a BIG BASH to remember!

Junior School French

It has been a very busy and exciting Term 4 in French at the Junior School. From French yoga in Wellbeing Week—celebrating wellness and mental health to our Year 4 French Speaking Competition, we have shared many wonderful moments.

Every student in Year 4 presented a French speech in class, and five students from each class were selected for the Grand Final, with a sixth chosen as a judge. Our big competition took place last Thursday, and the students truly embraced the experience. They were confident, prepared, and performed beautifully.

As their teacher, I could not be prouder. They worked extremely hard, and the progress they have made—from being able to say just one sentence to delivering a full speech—is remarkable. It was heartwarming to see so many friends come along to cheer them on. The support for the French program and the enthusiasm shown by the students and their peers were truly wonderful to witness.

French Speaking Competition Results:

  • Equal 5th: Akihiro Srinath (4T) and Toby Fisher (4T)

  • 4th place: Dan Bibin (4S)

  • 3rd place: Eloïse Newman (4H)

  • 2nd place: Elodia Blinco (4S)

1st place:The winner of the French Speaking Competition out of 112 students isMacy King (4H)

Our Year 3 students have also achieved so much this term. They completed a full written paragraph in French about themselves and their weekly activities—an impressive accomplishment, especially for many who are brand new to the school and experiencing their very first year of French. Their effort, confidence, and willingness to try something new have been truly inspiring.

Bush Preschool

Last week’s visit to the Fingal Rovers Surf Life Saving Club provided a valuable opportunity for the Bush Preschool children to deepen their understanding of water safety and community roles in our local area. Mrs Sarah and Mr Dougal, the surf lifesavers, welcomed us warmly and shared their expertise through hands-on experiences and interactive learning. The children were highly engaged, exploring the equipment, participating in safety games, and practising communication through lifesaver hand signals. They displayed confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of teamwork during mock rescues and group challenges. Thank you, Fingal Rovers!

Year 8 to Year 9 Transition Liturgy

This week, our Middle School community gathered in Ngahriyah for the Year 8 to Year 9 Transition Liturgy, a meaningful occasion marking the conclusion of Middle School for our Year 8 students as they prepare to enter Senior School in 2026.

The liturgy included a formal welcome from Mrs Kate Cornell, Head of Senior School, along with the Heads of House, as the students were recognised as entering the Senior School community. Middle School staff and students farewelled the cohort, acknowledging their leadership, contribution and presence across Middle School throughout 2025.

The liturgy was a fitting close to the Middle School journey, and the students approached the occasion with maturity and a clear readiness for their next step.

We thank the families who were able to join us in marking this important milestone for our Year 8 students as they step into Senior School next year.

Year 6 Thanksgiving Service

On Thursday, 27 November at 11:15am, we will hold our Year 6 Thanksgiving Service in the Mahers Lane Chapel.

This service provides an important moment to recognise the close of primary education and the beginnings of high school; a shift in learning, responsibility and personal development.

Following the service, Year 6 students will share a celebratory lunch with their teachers as a way of acknowledging their effort, growth and contribution throughout the year.

In the evening, students are invited to return for the Year 6 Disco, also held in the Chapel from 5:00pm, where a pizza dinner will be provided as part of the celebration.

We look forward to sharing this moment with our Year 6 students and their families.

Year 5 Movie Night

Also on Thursday, 27 November, our Year 5 students are invited to attend the End of Year Movie Night. This event is designed to acknowledge their efforts across the year and provide an opportunity to celebrate together as a cohort. Pizza will be provided, and students will enjoy a fun evening with classmates as they prepare to enter their final year of Primary education next year.

Student Hair Standards

In recent weeks, we have noticed a growing trend in student hairstyles, particularly cuts with shaved sides or noticeable variations in length. While we recognise that personal style can be important to students, it is essential that all hairstyles follow the expectations outlined in the Parent–Student Guide, which aims to maintain consistency across the School.

Our guidelines for hair and presentation are designed to support a consistent and well-presented appearance. Hairstyles must be neat, tidy and well-maintained, and should not create a significant contrast in length or appearance. As the Guide outlines, styles such as undercuts, shaved sections, mullets, tracks, horsies and rat’s tails are not permitted, and the minimum crew-cut length remains a No. 2 cut.

Please refer to the following statements from the Parent–Student Guide:

  • Significant contrasts in length of hair are not allowed, including (but not limited to) mullets, horsies, undercuts, tracks, rat’s tails or shaved sections.

  • The minimum crew-cut length is a No. 2 cut.

  • Hair must be neat, tidy and well-maintained.

We ask families to support these expectations when students are due for a haircut. If clarification is needed for a particular style, families are welcome to seek guidance before booking an appointment.

Thank you for your support in maintaining a clear and consistent standard across the School.

Year 8 Coordinators

Dear Year 8 Families,

This week, our Year 8 students took an important step in their educational journey as they participated in the Year 8 to Year 9 Transition Liturgy, marking their move from Middle School into the Senior School. The liturgy provided a meaningful opportunity for students, staff, and families to reflect on the growth and development that has occurred over the past years..

The service featured a touching slideshow that highlighted the students’ achievements and personal growth throughout Middle School, showcasing the maturity and resilience they have demonstrated. Each student was recognised individually, receiving certificates to formally acknowledge their readiness to commence the next stage of their Lindisfarne education. The moment served as a powerful reminder of the personal and academic progress students have made, reinforcing the importance of celebrating milestones along their educational journey.

The liturgy was both thoughtful and uplifting, providing students with a sense of accomplishment and excitement for the years ahead. It emphasised the development of key skills, confidence, and readiness to embrace new challenges in Senior School.

Congratulations to all Year 8 students as they embark on this next chapter, carrying forward the knowledge, experiences, and friendships gained during their Middle School years.

Senior School

From the Head of Senior School

This week, we gathered for the Year 8 to 9 Transition Service held on Tuesday morning. It was an uplifting occasion, marking an important milestone as we prepare to welcome our current Year 8 students into the Senior School in 2026. The special Liturgy provided a reflective and fitting way to honour their transition into the next phase of their learning journey.

Also on Tuesday, we welcomed officers from the Tweed/Byron Youth Command, who delivered three sessions to our Senior School students. Their presentations focused on responsible social media use, safe “partying” behaviours, and the growing concerns surrounding e-bike use. These sessions were both timely and relevant as we approach the summer holidays, and we remain grateful for the strong relationship we share with our local police command.

Families may also be aware of the Australian Government’s introduction of world-first social media age restrictions, scheduled to take effect from 10 December 2025. Under these new laws, age-restricted social media platforms will be required to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under the age of 16 from creating or keeping an account.

These changes aim to protect young people from the pressures and risks built into many platforms - algorithms and design features that encourage extended screen time, and content that may negatively impact health and wellbeing.

Importantly, this is not a ban on young people using social media, nor does it create penalties for children or parents. Rather, it places responsibility on social media companies to prevent under-16s from having accounts and introduces penalties for platforms that fail to take reasonable steps.

I strongly encourage parents and guardians to have meaningful and robust conversations with their children about what these changes will mean for them. On a personal level, I welcome this shift in legislation. While social media can provide opportunities for connection, my experience indicates that the negative impacts far outweigh the benefits for many young people. As a School, I anticipate that we will review and update our responsible ICT and anti-bullying policies in light of these upcoming legislative changes.

For families wishing to learn more, Headspace has published an information resource titled Information for Families about the Social Media ‘ban’, available here.

Finally, I would like to wish our Year 10 students all the very best as they embark on their Work Experience week. This is a valuable opportunity for them to explore potential career pathways, build confidence, and gain practical insights into the world beyond school. We look forward to hearing about their experiences on their return.

Lindisfarne Homestay Families Wanted

Join Our Homestay Community

Dear Community,

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from families who are open to welcoming international students into their homes. Hosting an international student is an enriching cultural exchange - creating genuine connections, sharing everyday Australian life, and offering a young person from overseas a sense of belonging.

The experience is equally rewarding for our families, who often tell us that hosting broadens perspectives and brings curiosity and gratitude into their own home. Our Hosting Models at Lindisfarne operate several models of international hosting to support the variety of programs and partnerships we engage in globally:

Short to Long Term Homestay (Paid Hosting via Homestay Provider)

Through partnership with homestay providers, families may host international students who enrol for an extended period at Lindisfarne. These placements are arranged on a contracted, paid basis and typically involve students enrolled in short and long-term study programs at our school.

Short Term: up to 1 Term

Long Term: minimum of 1 Semester (with the option to extend)

Voluntary Hosting (Sister School and Friendship School Exchanges) & StudyTour Programs

Our most inclusive and enriching hosting model invites Lindisfarne families to voluntarily welcome students from our network of sister and friendship schools across the globe. These visits focus on building enduring global connections, often with opportunities for future reciprocal visits by Lindisfarne students.

What’s Involved?

  • Provide a safe, welcoming home environment.
  • Include the visiting student in daily routines and family activities.
  • Offer support and encouragement as they engage with our school and community.
  • Most visits are short-term, ranging from a few days to several weeks.
  •  Full support and guidance are provided by the Lindisfarne International team.

We would love to welcome more school families to become part of our global school community. To express your interest, please complete the Homestay Expressions of Interest Form or contact the International Department at international@lindisfarne.nsw.edu.au to show your support.

Sport

A quieter week on the representative sports front, with multiple cricket games taking place.

The sports year culminates with two massive week-long events, which teams are training up for:

  1. Foot Locker Australian Schools Championships for our basketball U17 and U15 boys teams.

  2. Australian Schools Cup Volleyball for SIX secondary girls and boys teams for our super keen volleyball contingent.

Both of these mega-events are up on the Gold Coast, which is super handy - and we hope they stay there for many years to come.

Both of our Lindisfarne Lions Netball and Basketball clubs are still rolling in their respective Summer League competitions. Other than that, the school sports year is on the wind-down - so we can start to come up for air.

Cricket Douglas Shield (game 2) V The Armidale School

Last Monday saw Lindisfarne play The Armidale School in Round 3 of the state-wide Douglas Shield competition. We’re developing quite a strong rivalry with the TAS side, and last Monday saw this tradition continuing to build in intensity. The high-calibre TAS batsmen started strongly, losing only two wickets for their first 202 runs. The Lindisfarne boys had to dig deep in order to come back. And coming back, they did! The Lindisfarne boys eventually bowled TAS out for 233, after 46 hot overs. Lindisfarne’s work in the field was strong and consistent, but it was Kade Wood’s bowling that did the damage, taking an incredible 7-40 off 10 overs.

Chasing an achievable total, Lindisfarne was still on target at the second drinks break with 5-139 after 34 overs. Eventually, though, it was the TAS team that would prevail, with Lindisfarne succumbing to some consistently strong bowling in the 41st over for a total of 172 runs.

All in all, though, the boys can hold their heads high after digging in all day and really making a game of it in some challenging conditions. We’re looking forward to the next game against the TAS team, with the tide of talent and experience slowly swinging our way.

Cricket Lord Taverners T20 High School Cup

On Tuesday, 18 November, our Year 7/8 Boys Cricket Team, Years 9/10 Boys Cricket Team and our Girls’ Team all travelled to Lismore to compete in the Lord Taverners T20 Cup. The students represented Lindisfarne with outstanding enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship, showcasing impressive skill and resilience across all matches.

Lindisfarne lost the toss but started strongly with the ball, taking early wickets and applying good pressure. Despite the promising start, St John’s College Woodlawn finished on 5/104 from their 20 overs, defeating Lindisfarne, who closed their innings at 8/81.

Game 2:
In the second match, Lindisfarne won the toss and elected to bat first. After a steady innings, the team posted 4/64 from their allocated 20 overs. Xavier Catholic College chased the target, finishing on 4/65 from 15 overs.

Our students should be proud of their efforts, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day. They gained valuable match experience and represented the school with pride.

Well done to all involved!

9/10 Boys Boys Cricket Team

Game 1:

Lindisfarne won the toss and immediately set the tone with a dominant batting display. Confident stroke-making and positive intent saw the team post an impressive total, securing a commanding victory by achieving 4/141 runs that the opposition couldn't chase down. It was a strong all-round performance and an excellent start to the day. A standout performance from Kade Wood, who had to be retired at 35 runs. Also, Coby Ellison, who bowled for no runs and 3 wickets!

Game 2:

The second match began with a setback, as the toss went to the opposition. However, the boys remained calm, and our bowlers immediately applied pressure to the opposition’s batting lineup. Their innings closed at 74 all out. Despite a shaky start to our chase, including an early golden duck, the boys regrouped with confidence and quickly took control. Through tight bowling, sharp fielding, and composed, intelligent batting, Lindisfarne comfortably chased down the target to secure their second win of the day.

The team should be extremely proud of their efforts, resilience, and commitment throughout the competition. They demonstrated maturity, confidence, and strong teamwork, representing Lindisfarne with pride.

Well done to all involved!

Girls Cricket Team

Our girls’ cricket team was made up of students from Years 7 to 11, all bringing terrific attitudes despite having limited cricket experience.

The girls played two matches and, although they were defeated, they showed real promise and produced some genuinely good cricket. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see such a positive group of students working together, supporting one another, and embracing a sport that was new to many of them.

There were plenty of smiles and lots of laughs, and the team should be extremely proud of their efforts. Judging by their enthusiasm, they’re already looking forward to next year’s Gala Day!

Horse Riding - Student Report

At Kyllarie Retreat, my friends and I have had so much fun. At the beginning of the term, I had no idea what I was doing, and had never learned how to take care of a horse or how to ride it. With the help of the amazing instructors and my friends, I've come so far. I've learned how to brush and wash the horses, how to pick hooves (clean them out) and make up their food. I can now tack up a horse (put on all of its gear) and take its gear off when I'm finished riding.

I have learned how to mount, dismount, walk and trot. I now know that to ride a horse, you need to keep good posture and confidence. Not only have I learned how to take care of and ride a horse, but I have also built relationships and made fun memories with the horses and my friends. Although it can be pretty tough, horse riding has been so much fun this term.

Lindisfarne Drama Festival

On Sunday, more than 300 students from Grades 1–10 participated in the annual Lindisfarne Drama Festival. This much-loved event celebrates the achievements of our Speech and Drama students, giving them the opportunity to share their work with families and friends. This year, performances took place across three dedicated spaces in our beautiful new Senior Centre.

Students enrolled in group Speech and Drama lessons presented either scripted or self-devised scenes. From fractured fairy tales to stories exploring exam stress, each ensemble worked collaboratively to bring characters and narratives to life, offering performances that were humorous, dramatic, and thoroughly engaging.

Students who recently completed their Speech and Drama examinations also had the opportunity to perform their individual programs, showcasing their skills and creativity for parents and friends.

Beyond the excitement of performing, the Festival provides students with a meaningful and authentic learning experience. Taking part in a live performance builds confidence, strengthens communication skills, and encourages students to take creative risks in a supportive environment. Working as an ensemble helps them develop teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving skills, while performing for an audience fosters resilience and a sense of accomplishment. For many students, the Festival is a highlight of the year—a chance to celebrate their growth, refine their craft, and experience the joy of sharing stories on stage.

HICES Sustainability Expo

Day 1

Last week, the Sustainability Prefects and a small group of students dedicated to sustainability at Lindisfarne were lucky enough to participate in an incredible one-night trip to Sydney for the HICES Sustainability Expo. Our trip began bright and early at Gold Coast Airport, where we flew to Sydney to take part in a range of exciting activities and meet inspiring organisations and like-minded schools. Upon arrival, we visited the University of Technology Sydney, where we were given a tour of the campus and the steps UTS is taking to make its food production and cafeterias more sustainable and affordable for students, such as eliminating single-use plastics across all cafeteria shops and incorporating a native plant garden. It was wonderful to see the procedures in place that prioritise sustainability in large universities, and fascinating to learn how they were incorporated into student life and learning.

Following this, we visited an upcycling company, Unwanted FC, which transforms old football jerseys into everyday items such as bags, hats, jackets, and sports equipment. We learnt the importance of upcycling for sustainability, using old materials to create new, better products, and giving discarded objects a second life. Here, we participated in activities such as designing possible product ideas, brainstorming sustainable initiatives in groups and having a trivia penalty shoot-out with Western Sydney Wanderers captain and former Matilda, Amy Harrison. Following this, we took a trip to The Bower, a warehouse using second-hand timber that would have gone to landfill to create new furniture and, in our case, native beehives. In groups, we were taught to build hives for native bees from repurposed wood and copper, learning about the importance of bees to the environment and the benefits of repurposing materials. After a wonderful day of activities, we headed to Darling Harbour for dinner with students from Kinross Wolaroi School, where we had conversations with like-minded peers and fostered connections.

Overall, it was a fantastic first day from which we gained much inspiration for ideas and initiatives to bring back to our own school.

Day 2

After a good night's rest, we woke up inspired by the previous day's activities. We started the morning by setting up stalls that showcased the sustainability initiatives already taking place at our own schools, giving us the opportunity to share our ideas, learn from others, and collaborate on meaningful ways to strengthen environmental action across all campuses from schools all over Australia. Throughout the day, we heard from a range of guest speakers, including Luke Rust from Ollo, an electric car rental company exploring innovative pathways for low-emission transport, and a representative from Beanstalk, an agri-tech organisation that has collaborated to create groundbreaking technology, such as virtual paddock systems created through mobile, collar-based fencing for cattle.

We also spoke with speakers who highlighted the impact of sustainable clothing practices such as upcycling and thrifting, inspiring us to consider how similar initiatives could be adopted within our own school community, like our school clothing swap. Another presentation focused on environmental advocacy through elected community leaders who act as spokespeople for protecting local land; these leaders have already contributed to the establishment of the Great Koala National Park and are constantly fighting for the continued well-being of the environment.

The speakers were motivating and gave us ideas of practices we could implement at Lindisfarne, as well as highlighting possible future careers for young, sustainably minded students that could make a difference. Later, we were given a tour of the venue’s facilities, where we explored an impressive array of recycling initiatives, from art pieces made of clothing scraps and bottle caps to kitchen benches, seating, and sculptures created entirely from repurposed plastics and waste materials. To conclude the day, we split into school groups to brainstorm and plan new sustainability projects, which we hope to introduce at Lindisfarne in 2026.

The Annual Christmas Giving Tree 2025

It is that time of year when we open our hearts and our wallets to give to those less fortunate than ourselves. Our worthy recipients this year will be “The Tweed Women's Refuge” and “KIN - Kids in Need”.

Their donations of choice are gift cards, for example - Woolworths, K Mart, Lowes (for school uniforms), Big W, Coles, Myer, Smiggles, etc. Cash donations are acceptable, and this will be used to purchase gift cards. There is also an EFTPOS option @ your Library.

There is a Giving Wall in the Library where students write their name on a Christmas Bauble after donating. Let's fill the wall and bring smiles to the faces of our little people in dire situations.

Yours in the spirit of giving.

Celebrating our continued Partnership with Club Tweed

We are delighted to announce the renewal of the long-standing and valued partnership between Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School and Club Tweed.

Earlier this week, Principal Marquardt met with Club Tweed CEO, Gerard Robinson to sign a new MoU, extending the partnership for another 3 years. This renewed agreement marks an exciting new chapter in a relationship built on mutual support, community spirit, and a shared commitment to creating exceptional opportunities for our students and families.

Club Tweed has long been a highly respected venue within our region, known for its outstanding facilities and warm hospitality. Over the years, they have played an integral role in hosting several of Lindisfarne’s major school events, helping us bring together families, students, and staff for memorable celebrations and important milestones. We are especially grateful for Club Tweed’s ongoing support of our Speech Day Awards, where they generously contribute to recognising and celebrating student achievement. Their continued involvement ensures that this important tradition remains a highlight of our school calendar.

As we move forward, we are thrilled to continue working with a partner who shares our values and dedication to the community. We look forward to many more successful events, collaborative opportunities, and shared successes with Club Tweed.
