From the Principal
In celebrating the annual Speech Days this week, we are reminded that the awards are not just about the award recipients. They are a testament to the extraordinary talent our students and staff possess across our school and act as recognition of individual and collective achievement. Our Speech days also serve as a time of celebration, as we give thanks for the high standards, dedication, and community support for our school, and, importantly, highlight the tremendous value our staff, parents, and the Lindisfarne community place on all aspects of learning and education.
On behalf of the School Community, I congratulate the respective Dux and Proxime Accessit recipients.

To the graduating class of 2025, I hope that you will feel an enduring connection to Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School and that you will forever feel part of this school and community, no matter where life might take you.
Remembering ‘that you never actually leave a school like Lindisfarne; you just stop attending every day.’
At our respective speech days, I shared that as Lindisfarne confidently plans for the future, it is essential that we build on the culture of giving that made Lindisfarne possible over 44 years ago.
We have established the Lindisfarne Foundation, approved by the Commonwealth government as a tax-deductible gift recipient fund. The Lindisfarne Foundation Fund invites our community to build a shared legacy, offering families and supporters the opportunity to contribute to what comes next.
Through your generosity, you can partner with us to:
Expand scholarships that genuinely open doors and change lives
Bring Master Plan innovation and learning environments to life
Enhance our libraries and resource centres
Support wellbeing programming, spiritual and pastoral care initiatives
Back our Creative Industries precinct expansion and our Year 7 centre
Strengthen co-curricular pathways in the arts, sport, leadership and global citizenship
Support contemporary teaching and learning innovation
To those considering making a gift, thank you. You can explore the Foundation Fund invitation by clicking this link — every gift, large or small, matters and makes a difference.
This year, we farewell two long-serving staff members, Mr Joe Wilson, who has given over 20 years of service to the School as a respected teacher of legal studies and Jenaya Mulley, who has been most recently Head of Enrolments and International Development and has served the School with distinction over the past nine years.
Mr Wilson will be spending more time with his family and taking time out to travel. Ms Mulley will be returning to Queensland as Head of Enrolments at St Hilda’s School.
Today, we acknowledge the achievement of Ben Reeve, Year 12, who is representing the region at the Parliament of New South Wales Public Speaking competition at Parliament House in Sydney. Ben is one of 6 students from across the state in the grand final of this coveted competition.
In closing, I include the term dates for the 2026 and 2027 School years.
Thank you to all members of our School community for your support throughout 2025 as we shared our ongoing Lindisfarne story and continued the important work of developing a world-renowned school for the children and families of the southern Gold Coast, the Tweed Coast, and northern New South Wales.
I extend the very best wishes to all members of the school community for a safe and blessed Christmas and a very happy New Year.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
And the government shall be upon his shoulder,
And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Chaplaincy Report
Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Guardians,
As we close out what has been a wonderful year, I would like to take this opportunity to focus on the true meaning of Christmas.
Each Christmas, people throughout the world take a break from their daily lives to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Christmas is a unifying celebration that brings together countries and cultures, while also highlighting the beauty and diversity of humanity.
Christmas represented, and still represents, a revolution. It bridges cultural divides as we each celebrate, in our unique ways, the moment God became one of us.
Christmas is revolutionary because it tore down the barriers between earth and heaven, God, and humanity. God entered His creation not just to coexist with us, but to unite us with Himself.
The heart of Christmas is the message the angel shared with the startled shepherds in the fields: “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which shall be for all people. Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.”
This marks the moment when God directly, profoundly, and irrevocably entered human history, fulfilling numerous Old Testament prophecies.
On this day, the Son of God left heaven to come to earth as a child—a child who was fully divine and fully human. He came to lead a perfect life, be baptized with the Holy Spirit, and demonstrate God’s goodness and power.
He endured a cruel, undeserved death so that our sins could be forgiven and we could be reconciled with God. By rising from the dead, He gave us hope for eternal life, and He ascended back to heaven with the promise to return and establish a renewed earth, which will reflect the very life of heaven, where evil will be eliminated and goodness will reign, for ever and and ever, Amen..
The true message of Christmas remains equally important in 2025 as it was on the day Jesus was born. We each need reconciliation and restoration to God through Christ’s sacrifice, our conflicted world longs for The Prince of Peace, and our over-exploited, polluted earth waits for its creator to redeem and renew it.
And so, how will you welcome the Prince of Peace this Christmas?
Christmas Blessings, everyone.

Hope Walk for Hope Vale in support of Indigenous Education
During the 2025 Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition to Hope Vale in Far North Queensland, we had the privilege of immersing ourselves in a small Indigenous community. During our time there, we learned that although approximately 340 children in the Cape York region complete Year Six each year, only around 20 receive a Cape York Leaders Institute scholarship to attend secondary school. Many of these young people dream of further education, yet lack access to the resources and opportunities that many of us take for granted.
Wanting to contribute in a meaningful way, our team organised a charity walk in June—journeying from Tweed Heads to Pottsville—to raise funds to support a Hope Vale student in accessing boarding school. Thanks to the generosity of our school community and supporters, the Hope Walk initiative enabled us to raise over $11,000.00 to sponsor a student’s education.
Encouraged by this outcome, we hosted a second Hope Walk last Wednesday to reach our goal of raising $21,000 for a Hope Vale student. After the Speech Day assembly, our team of student volunteers travelled by shuttle to St James Anglican Church, Kingscliff, where we gathered with our dedicated Hope Walk organisers and supporters. At 2:30pm we began our walk to St Mark's Anglican Church, Pottsville. With flat terrain, a tailwind, and no heavy packs, we completed our journey just after 6:00 pm and celebrated with a delicious barbecue generously provided by St Mark’s and our Lindisfarne leadership team.
The Hope Walk experience was truly rewarding—not only because we raised valuable funds and awareness, but because we spent an afternoon building community and friendship through conversation, laughter, and spontaneous singing along the Casuarina pathways after realising we’d forgotten a speaker. To date, we have raised more than $13,000 to support Indigenous education, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our local and school communities.
We are close - but not yet at our goal. To help give a Hope Vale child the life-changing gift of education, please consider supporting us by donating using the link below. No matter the amount, every contribution makes a difference.

Looking ahead, we are already planning a charity dinner in 2026 to continue supporting Hope Vale students—an evening of music, community, and purpose. We sincerely thank you for your continued support and look forward to walking this journey with you into the new year.

ConnectED 2025/26 Device Exchange
Planning is well advanced for the 2026 ConnectEd device rollover, which will see significant upgrades across our technology program.
From 2026, all staff and students will transition to the Apple MacBook Air M4, while current iPads (10th Gen) will continue to be used as part of the device program.
For the first time, staff and students will also have the opportunity to purchase their current MacBook Air M2 device for $800 (inc. GST). This process begins with completing an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the form provided.
EOIs close on Friday 10th October 2025 at 5.00pm, with full payment required by Monday 10th November 2025 at 5.00pm. Ownership of purchased devices will transfer to continuing staff and students on Monday 10th November 2025. Devices will then be the property of the purchaser, with no further support or responsibility carried by the School. Any staff or students who purchase their device will still be provided with a new MacBook for use at the school along with everyone else.
More details will be shared in the months ahead, but the device rollover schedule will occur as follows:
Part One: Students in Years 7–12 will return their current MacBook Air at a scheduled time in the week beginning 17 November 2025.
Part Two: Students will receive their new MacBook Air at a whole-cohort induction session on the first day of the 2026 school year. (Year 12, 2026 and accelerants will complete their induction and exchange for their new device in Term 4 this year.)
Staff, Year 12 (2026) and accelerated students will be upgraded in the final weeks of this year, enabling them to use their new M4 devices across the holiday break. Students K-6 will have their tech needs managed within their classgroup. IT will provide full support for data transfer to ensure a seamless transition.

Junior School
From the Head of Junior School
As we come to the close of another truly remarkable year at Sunshine Ave, I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Junior School community for its unwavering support. Together, we have faced challenges, celebrated successes, and created memories that will stay with us for many years to come.
One of the standout features of 2025 was the abundance of opportunities for our students to shine in a fantastic array of contexts. Back in Term 2, our Junior School musical, Finding Nemo Junior, was an unforgettable highlight. The energy, colour, and commitment shown by our young performers brought the story to life in the most magical way. It was a true celebration of creativity and teamwork, and a proud moment for our entire community.
Our sporting achievements throughout the year have also been outstanding. From the excitement of our Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals to the spirited competition of our Swimming Carnival(s) and interschool events, our students demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Their achievements, big and small, reflect the heart and character of Lindisfarne.
Equally memorable were our cultural festivals, where students had the chance to explore, express, and share a rich tapestry of traditions, art forms, and experiences. These celebrations not only showcased our students’ talents but also highlighted the diversity, inclusivity, and global-mindedness that define our school community.
The annual Colour Run lit up our campus with its trademark vibrancy and joy, bringing students, families, and staff together in a whirlwind of colour and excitement. As a major event in our Festival of Wellbeing, it reminded us of the importance of connection, fun, and community spirit. We look forward to continuing this tradition in the years ahead.
This week’s Speech Day was a magnificent occasion, offering us the chance to celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of our students. It was a day filled with pride and gratitude as we acknowledged the hard work, perseverance, and exceptional talents that each student brings to our school. Congratulations to all of our award recipients; your achievements are truly well deserved.
As we reflect on the many highlights of 2025, it is clear that this year has been nothing short of extraordinary. The growth of our students, in character, capability, and confidence, stands as a testament to their dedication, as well as the commitment of their teachers, and the unwavering partnership of our families.
As families take time to read through their child’s end-of-year report, I encourage you to celebrate the many positives, achievements, and milestones that each student has reached throughout the year. These reports also offer valuable insights and strategies for continued growth. I hope you find the feedback helpful as your child moves forward into their next stage of learning. Together, we can support our students to build on their strengths, embrace new challenges, and continue developing confidence in their learning.
The Ringing of the Bell for our Year 4 students on their final day at Sunshine Ave was especially poignant this year. As my own youngest child completed his time on the Junior Campus, I felt the full weight of what this tradition means. I’m sure many parents felt a lump in their throat as they watched this final moment of celebration, a beautiful blend of pride, nostalgia, and the excitement of what comes next for our children as they make the leap, headfirst, into Middle School.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to each family for entrusting Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School with your child’s education and wellbeing. Your partnership, support, and encouragement enrich our community and contribute profoundly to the success of our school.
Finally, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to our wonderful staff across the Junior School. To our teachers, support staff, and the Junior School Leadership Team, your care, compassion, professionalism, and unrelenting commitment underpin everything we do. You have created an environment where our students feel valued, supported, and inspired to be their best selves each day. Sunshine Ave is a joyful and nurturing place because of the passion you bring to your work.
As we step into a well-earned break, I wish every member of our Lindisfarne community a joyous holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. May the new year bring continued growth, success, and happiness to you all.

Bush Preschool Picnic in the Park – Celebrating Community and Country
Last week our Bush Preschool families gathered for a joyful celebration at Fingal Head for our annual Picnic in the Park—a beautiful way to honour a year of learning, exploring and caring for Country together.
Gathering beneath the shade of our much-loved Jali tree, children proudly performed their Care for Country song for families. We then celebrated each child’s achievements with a Bush Preschool graduation, complete with unity badges, certificates and a very special gift—mini field guide books kindly donated by Griffith University to encourage their continued curiosity and love of nature.
Our picnic lunch was full of smiles, shade, and sea breeze, followed by a guided visit to our planting site. The children were thrilled to show their families the trees they planted and to help provide a final water to support their continued growth over the warmer months.
A highlight of the afternoon was acknowledging our ongoing partnership with Fingal Coast Care. This passionate volunteer group has supported our Bush Preschool learning journey from the very beginning—sharing knowledge, guiding hands-on planting experiences and caring for the environment behind the scenes. We were proud to present a special donation to assist their important work and to show our deep appreciation. It was also exciting to partake in the installation of two new bush regeneration signs at our adopted ‘Lindisfarne Planting Site’—a lasting reminder of our shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful families for attending, supporting our program and embracing the adventure with enthusiasm. Your involvement strengthens the connection between school, community and Country in a truly meaningful way.
A very special thank you also goes to Mrs Lisa, our Assistant Bush Kindy Leader, whose inspiration, passion and collaboration has enriched our program every step of the way. And of course, our Director of Early Learning, Jo Hetherington, who supports the program behind the scenes and advocates for our nature based-learning experiences.
What an incredible year it has been at Bush Preschool—full of curiosity, courage, connection and care. Here’s to many more adventures ahead!

End of Year Reflection
As we closed our school year on Wednesday, I would like to take a moment to reflect on all that we have achieved together as a community. 2025 has been a year of growth, learning and many moments of joy. From academic successes to sporting achievements, creative arts performances, community events and meaningful Service-Learning initiatives, our students have continued to inspire us with their talents, resilience and generosity.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and the spirit of collaboration that defines our school. Together, we have created an environment where every child is encouraged to flourish and reach their potential. It has been a privilege to witness the commitment and care that make our school such a special place.
This term’s Service-Learning projects have been a fitting reminder of the blessings we enjoy - loving families, supportive friends and a community that looks after one another.
Year 5 participated in the Be Kind Project, visiting a local aged-care facility and spending time with residents.
Year 7 assembled and donated stationery packs for Care Kits for Kids, thoughtfully preparing items for children who need them most.
Across the whole school, students and families supported the Christmas Giving Tree initiative, donating generously to both the Tweed Women’s Refuge and Kids In Need.
These acts of compassion highlight the strength of our students’ character and the values we work to instil each day.
As we prepare to celebrate Christmas, I wish each of you a holy and joyful season filled with peace, rest and time with loved ones. May this festive period bring renewal after a full and rewarding year.
Looking ahead to 2026, I am excited for the opportunities that lie before us. With new pathways for learning, service and growth on the horizon, I am confident we will continue to build on the strong foundation established in 2025. Thank you for being part of our community. I look forward to working together to make the coming year even more successful.
Middle School Speech Day 2025
Our Middle School Speech Day took place on Tuesday this week and was a wonderful celebration of our students’ achievements across the year. The event was exceptionally well attended by parents, friends and families, and it was heartening to see our community come together in such strong support of our young people.
Speech Day is an opportunity to recognise excellence not only in Academic Studies, but also in Citizenship, Service, Effort, Sport and Cultural pursuits. These areas together reflect the character and values we seek to nurture in our Middle School students, and it was a privilege to acknowledge so many who have embodied these qualities throughout 2025.
Our students represented the school with pride in their full formal uniform, and our award recipients should feel immensely proud of their achievements. Congratulations to all students on a successful year, and our sincere thanks to the staff, parents and carers who continue to support their growth and learning.
We look forward to carrying this momentum into the year ahead

School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships
Andie Buchan, Elle Down and Jack Kane ran at the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships in Canberra over the weekend.
Andie Buchan, after annihilating her opposition all year, didn’t have her best race, running 4:50 and finishing 5th. As much as any athlete would wish and recognise, you cannot always bring your A game to every event.
Elle Down. Wow. She ran around 4:49 and took the win comfortably in the 1500m in RECORD time. Such a little weapon, congratulations Elle. She is now the national champion over 800m and 1500m; she came 1st in both events.

Jack Kane competed in the 12-year boys Long Jump and the 12-year boys Medley Relay, and he absolutely smashed it. He picked up a silver in Long Jump and a gold in the relay. This event is only for kids aged 10–12 who make it through NSWPSSA, so his results are outstanding. Young Jack has qualified for these nationals every single year he’s been eligible, medalling in Long Jump and a relay each time. Congratulations Jack.

Reminder: 2026 Integrated Sports Selections Dates
The 2026 Integrated Sports Program is the compulsory sport timetabled into students' academic calendars. Unfortunately, we are being pressed by providers of costs going up; insurance, rates of pay, and other outgoings are all forcing their hands. We have no choice but to pass these on.
Term One Sports Selections will open on Clipboard on Wednesday, 14 January, 7 pm and close on Tuesday, 21 January, 8 am. Sport options will be emailed out to families in early January.
For Terms 2 to 4 - nomination dates are as per the below and subject to change, in which case it will be communicated to all families.
Term 2: Wednesday 4 March, 7:00 pm to Tuesday 10 March, 8:00 am
Term 3: Wednesday 27 May, 7:00 pm to Tuesday 2 June, 8:00 am
Term 4: Wednesday 2 September, 7:00 pm to Tuesday 8 September, 8:00 am

Australian Schools Basketball Championships 2025
The Australian Schools Basketball Championships brought five action-packed days of elite basketball to the Gold Coast this past week. Spread across three world-class venues; Runaway Bay, Coomera and Carrara, the competition featured three days of round games followed by two days of elimination finals.
This national tournament is renowned for its professionalism, FIBA-level structure and exceptional standard of play. For our boys, it offered invaluable exposure to a truly world-class basketball environment.
Our U17s fought through a challenging pool, showing tremendous effort and sportsmanship throughout the round games. Their campaign ended in a hard-fought quarter-final against a strong Brisbane-based opponent. Despite the result, the team showed enormous heart and a resilience that saw them through the week.
The U15s delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament, going undefeated through the round games and earning a well-deserved spot in the grand final. In a tough championship match-up against Wahroonga Adventist School, the boys battled it out for 40 minutes, but ultimately fell short, earning themselves a silver medal. Despite the loss, their campaign was nothing short of outstanding. Their consistency, skill, discipline and competitiveness have been evident in every game, and reaching the grand final of a national competition is a tremendous achievement.
A huge thank you goes to Head Coach Nash Campbell, Director of Sport, Damien Clucas, and all of our supporting staff for their tireless work throughout the week. Their leadership, preparation and care for the players were instrumental in making this campaign such a success.
Beyond the wins and results, what has stood out most this week has been the boys’ behaviour, attitude and support for one another. They embodied teamwork, lifting each other up, competing hard, and representing our program with pride and respect.
We could not be prouder of all the players and teams involved. Congratulations on an inspiring week of basketball.

Christmas Giving Tree
A heartfelt thank you to all the families who contributed to our Christmas Giving Tree this year.
Our recipients, The Tweed Women’s Refuge and KIN (Kids in Need), are truly grateful for your generosity. The difference we make as a community in supporting families in need is enormous - not only through financial assistance, but also by showing that there are people who care during times when hope can feel lost.
We also received a very generous donation from Ela and Earth Founder and Director, Judi Watts, who put together 30 back-to-school packs containing a school backpack, a 550ml drink bottle, and a pencil case. These gifts will no doubt be treasured by the children who receive them. Our heartfelt thanks go to Judi for her kindness, compassion, and generosity.
Thank you again for your continued support. I wish you a wonderful festive season filled with love, laughter, and joy.
