Foreword

Dear Lindisfarne Parents and Guardians,

It has been a positive and reflective week across our School community as we come to the close of Term 1 and enter Holy Week, a significant time in the life of the Anglican church.

We began the week at Sunshine Avenue with our Junior School Easter Service, providing a meaningful opportunity for our youngest students to reflect on the Easter story and its significance. This was followed by our much-loved Junior School Twilight Concert, where students showcased their talents in music, speech and drama, and singing. Set in a beautiful outdoor backdrop, the evening was a wonderful celebration of creativity, confidence, and our students' growth throughout the term.

On Tuesday, our Senior and Middle School Easter Services were held at Mahers Lane. These gatherings offered students the opportunity to pause, reflect, and acknowledge the importance of Easter, a time centred on faith, hope, renewal, and service. I thank our Chaplaincy team and staff for guiding these thoughtful and reverent services.

One of the most joyful highlights of the week was the Early Learning Centre Easter Hat Parade at Sunshine Avenue. Our youngest students, from Preschool through to the early primary years, delighted us all with their creativity and enthusiasm. The colour, imagination, and pride on display made for a truly memorable morning and a reminder of the joy that sits at the heart of our Junior School.

Today, we enjoyed another significant event with our Mahers Lane Cross Country Carnival for students in Years 3–12. Our course is well known for its challenging hills and varied terrain, and it was wonderful to see students embrace the challenge with determination, resilience, and excellent sportsmanship. Events such as these continue to highlight the character, effort, and spirit of our students.

As we now look toward Good Friday and Easter Sunday, we are reminded of the deeper meaning at the heart of this season. Easter is a time of reflection, hope, and renewal, a time that speaks to sacrifice, faith, and the promise of new beginnings. It invites us to pause, to reconnect with what truly matters, and to spend meaningful time with those we love most.

As we conclude what has been a full and demanding ten-week term, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our entire Lindisfarne community. To our staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication, care, and commitment, particularly for the extraordinary time and energy you invested in our recent musical and in the many experiences that have enriched this term. To our students, thank you for the enthusiasm, resilience, and spirit you bring to our School each day. And to our families, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership; it is truly valued and deeply appreciated.

The Easter break offers a welcome opportunity to rest, restore, and recharge. We wish all of our families a safe, peaceful, and happy Easter, and we look forward to welcoming our students back for Term 2 on Tuesday, 21 April.

Warm regards,

Charlotte Lush

Dear Members of the Lindisfarne School Community

As we conclude Term 1, we extend God’s richest blessings to all the members of our Lindisfarne Anglican School community, and give thanks for a productive and fruitful term that we have experienced. Besides, we thank the good Lord for all His blessings and graces, as well as the opportunities Lindisfarne education offers our students to grow, mature and flourish.

THE MEANING OF EASTER:

A short reflection using the letters E–A–S–T–E–R

E – Extravagant Love

Easter begins with the extravagant, undeserved love of God shown in Jesus Christ. In his death on the Cross, we see the depth of God’s mercy; in his resurrection, we see the power of God’s life. Jesus enters fully into our human experience—even death itself—and overcomes it. As St Paul reminds us, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Easter proclaims that Christ’s love is stronger than sin, and His life is bigger than death and evil.

A – Acceptance

God’s reckless love is a gift—but like all gifts, it must be received. God does not force himself upon us; rather, God invites us into a relationship. In the life of our school community, Easter calls each of us to respond—to open our hearts, to trust, and to accept the hope and forgiveness offered in Christ. Faith is not just knowing the story of Easter, but allowing it to shape who we are.

S – Spirit of God

The risen life of Jesus is not distant or abstract—it is present and active through the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is at work in us (Romans 4:24; Romans 8:11): in our worship, in our learning, in our friendships, and in our service. As an Anglican community grounded in prayer, sacrament, and service, we are continually renewed by the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us to live as people of hope.

T – Transformation

Easter is not only something we celebrate; it is something we live. The resurrection calls us to lives that reflect Christ—lives marked by integrity, humility, compassion, courage, and truth. In a school setting, this is seen in how we treat one another, how we act when no one is watching, and how we stand for what is right and just. A transformed life is the most powerful witness to the reality of the risen Christ.

E – Eternal Hope

Easter reminds us that our story does not end with struggle, failure, or even death. In Christ, there is always more to come. This hope gives us strength in times of challenge—whether in our studies, our relationships, or our personal lives. We are encouraged to look beyond the immediate and to trust in God’s greater purpose and promise.

R – Resurrection Life

The resurrection is not just an event in the past; it is a way of life in the present. It is seen in small acts of kindness, in forgiveness, in new beginnings, and in the quiet courage to keep going. Resurrection life is real and tangible—it meets us in our everyday experiences and invites us to live with joy, gentleness, hope and purpose. As Daniel O’Leary wisely wrote, “Resurrection, in fact, is the deepest meaning of everything that brings a smile to our faces, a tear to our eyes, a vitality to our bodies, a softness to our voices and a tenderness to our touch. Resurrection is as real as that.”

May the joy of the risen Christ fill our school with hope, renew our hearts in love, and guide us in lives of faith, humility and service.

A Happy and Holy Easter to you all, and a restful and rejuvenating break.

Chaplain

Lindisfarne Buses

The Lindisfarne buses provide a service for students registered to travel to and from the closest bus stop to the residential address of the family. The Lindisfarne Bus service does not have the capacity to meet requests such as transport for students to swap buses for travel to other locations for sport, work, social or other reasons.

Should your child need to attend such an activity we advise you to make alternative arrangements like carpooling to transport your child to their event.

We write to provide a reminder regarding the scheduled departure times for our School provided bus service. To ensure all students arrive at School safely and on time each morning, it is essential that the buses depart promptly at their designated intervals.

The full schedule including all routes and times can be viewed here on our website. We ask that you please review your route and stop time, and that students arrive at the bus zone prior to the departure times listed.

If you use the Route A intercampus bus, please note that the last morning departure for this service is 8.20am. Students must be at the Chapel to meet the supervising staff member by 8.15am at the latest to allow time for roll taking and boarding.

Please note that for the safety of our students and to maintain our route schedules, drivers are unable to wait for late arrivals.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a reliable and efficient service for all families.

Also note, that with daylight savings coming to an end over Easter long weekend, Queensland residents will need to ensure they follow the scheduled departure times for Term 2.

Your understanding of these matters is appreciated.

Please direct any Lindisfarne bus inquiries to bus@lindisfarne.nsw.edu.au

Easter - A Time for Reflection

You may think of Easter as a time for chocolate, long weekends, and spending time with family and friends, but it also carries a deeper meaning. For many people, especially Christians, Easter represents hope, renewal, and new beginnings, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus.

It’s a time that reminds us that even after difficult times in our lives, there is always the chance to start again and move forward with a fresh perspective.

For teenagers today, this message is especially important and relevant. Life can feel busy, stressful, and sometimes overwhelming, whether it’s school, friendships, or thinking about the future. Easter offers a moment to pause, reflect, and reset. It can be a time to think about personal goals, build stronger connections with others, and focus on its key messages of love, kindness and forgiveness - both towards others and ourselves.

Being part of Easter doesn’t require big moments or traditions. It can be as simple as reaching out to others in your life, spending quality time with loved ones, or taking a break to recharge. Small actions can reflect the bigger themes of hope and renewal that Easter represents.

No matter your beliefs, Easter is an opportunity for everyone to share in hope and joy, looking ahead with optimism. It reminds us that growth is always possible, and that even small positive changes can make a difference!

Junior School

From the Head of Junior School

As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our entire school community for what has been a fantastic start to the year. It has been a busy and productive term, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to learning and growth.

Our students have approached the term well, showing consistent effort in the classroom and good involvement in co-curricular activities. This has set a solid foundation for the year ahead. It has been wonderful to see such positive engagement across all areas of school life, setting a strong foundation for the year ahead.

A highlight of our final week of term was our always-amazing ELC Easter Hat Parade. The creativity, colour, and joy on display were truly delightful, and it was wonderful to see our youngest learners so proud to showcase their efforts. Events like these remind us of the vibrant and nurturing environment we are so fortunate to be part of. Thank you to the many parents, grandparents, and friends who attended. It’s always special to share these moments together and enjoy connecting over morning tea. A special thanks must also go to Mrs Hetherington and the fantastic ELC team, and to Mr Jesse Edwards for their remarkable work in getting the students ready for such a terrific performance.

Equally impressive this week were the efforts of our students in today’s Cross Country, held on the hills of our Mahers Lane Campus. The determination, resilience, and encouragement shown by all participants were commendable.

As we look ahead to Term 2, I would also like to take this opportunity to inform and remind families of a staffing update. We are very pleased to welcome back Ms Abbey Reed following her period of leave. Ms Reed will resume her duties teaching 3R, and we know she is very much looking forward to connecting with her students and the school community. I would also like to sincerely thank Mrs Smith for the care, professionalism, and steady hand she has provided in leading 3R throughout Term 1. Her commitment has ensured a positive and consistent learning environment for the class, and we are very grateful for her contribution.

As a reminder, our Dean of Students, Mrs Dana Dowker, will be taking leave for the duration of Term 2. Mr Hugh Scott will serve as Acting Dean of Students in her absence. As a result, Mrs Carlie Smith will take on 4S for the term. We will work closely with all classes to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of learning.

This term has certainly been a full one, and I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our staff and the ongoing support of our families in ensuring such a positive and purposeful start to the year.

As we head into the break, I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2, ready to continue the journey of learning and growth together.

Thank you once again for a wonderful Term 1. I wish you all a safe, restful, and happy holiday break.

Middle School

From the Head of Middle School

Today marks the final day of Term 1 as we head into the Easter long weekend.

I would like to thank our students and families for a productive and successful term. There has been much to celebrate across the Middle School, and I am grateful for the continued support of our community.

As we move into the break, I encourage all students to take the opportunity to rest, spend time outdoors, and enjoy time with family and friends. Please also take care and stay safe over the holidays.

We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 2 on Tuesday, 21 April, with Monday, 20 April, a Pupil Free Staff Day.

A reminder for the start of Term 2 that students are expected to wear their blazer to and from school each day, and ties are to be worn daily.

Over the holiday period, a number of our students will be representing the school in various competitions. We wish all students, staff, and coaches involved in the Armidale Rugby Carnival, Ballymore Cup, CIS Basketball, and our Gold Duke of Edinburgh participants all the very best. Thank you for your commitment and the way you represent the school.

Today’s Primary and Secondary Cross Country Carnivals have been a wonderful way to finish the term. The House spirit has been fantastic, the atmosphere positive, and the support from students and families greatly appreciated.

A reminder that all Middle School devices should remain on campus over the holidays. If your child still has their device at home, please arrange for it to be returned to Main Administration so that IT can complete necessary updates.

Wishing all families a safe and restful Easter break.

Southern Cross University Year 10 Taster Day

On Monday, 30 March, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend the Southern Cross University (SCU) Gold Coast Taster Day, gaining valuable insight into university study and future career pathways.

The day was designed to give students a genuine taste of university life. Students participated in a series of fast-paced, interactive workshops across a range of study areas, allowing them to explore different disciplines and begin considering potential pathways beyond school.

Throughout the day, students were able to experience SCU’s state-of-the-art Gold Coast campus facilities and engage directly with current university students and staff. These conversations provided valuable, real-world perspectives on university study, student life, and the transition from school to further education.

This excursion forms an important part of our Year 10 Careers program, supporting students as they begin to explore their interests, strengths, and potential post-school pathways ahead of subject selection and future planning.

We thank Southern Cross University for continuing to provide such engaging and valuable opportunities for our students.

LTV Goes Live

A New Chapter for Student Broadcasting

Watch the LTV Episode here

Lindisfarne TV (LTV) has entered an exciting new phase with the launch of LTV Live, marking the first time our student news program has been produced in a live broadcast format. The debut episode premiered this week and represents a significant step forward for the program and a great achievement for the students involved.

Over the past months, LTV has undergone a major transformation. With the school investing in professional broadcast equipment, the team has been working to shift from a traditional edited format to a live-style broadcast, giving students a far more authentic industry experience. This change has required students to develop new technical skills and collaborate in defined production roles including directing, camera operation, audio management, switching, floor management and teleprompter operation.

As with any new broadcast venture, there were technical challenges along the way. During the initial attempt at going live, the team encountered issues that prevented the broadcast from proceeding as planned. Rather than being discouraged, the students regrouped, refined their workflow and spent time upskilling on the new equipment and production process.

A key part of the program’s revamp has been the work of Community Engagement Prefects Ben Reeve and Tessa Form, alongside Production Manager Ashton Schneider, who have helped reshape LTV to feel more like a genuine broadcast. Their focus has been on creating fresh, engaging content that speaks directly to students and encourages creativity, rather than simply compiling school events.

Thank you to the students who committed their time and effort to bringing this new format to life, and to the staff who continue to support the growth of LTV. What began as a student media project is now evolving into a genuine live broadcast experience for our school community.

Year 10 Service Learning - Giving Back

Our Year 10 Service Learning group is excited to be giving back to our community through a hands-on gardening initiative.

Alongside our grounds staff, Mr Jamie Sullivan and teacher Mr Davies, students will be offering practical support to members of our community who may need a helping hand with their gardens. This may include mowing lawns, weeding, and general garden maintenance.

We are seeking nominations from within our school community for individuals or families who would genuinely benefit from this support. This could include elderly residents, those recovering from illness or injury, or anyone experiencing circumstances that make garden upkeep difficult.

If you know someone who would appreciate this assistance, please contact kbedford@lindisfarne.nsw.edu.au with their details and a brief description of how we can help.

This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for our students to serve others, build connections, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around them.

Thank you for helping us support our community.

NCIS Touch Football

The Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School’s Touch Football teams delivered an outstanding performance at the recent NCIS Gala Day, showcasing skill, teamwork and sportsmanship across all divisions.

The Under 12 Boys set the tone early, remaining undefeated throughout the day to claim a well-deserved 1st place finish. Not to be outdone, the Under 12 Girls were equally dominant—also finishing undefeated and achieving the remarkable feat of not conceding a single point/try all day.

The Under 15 Boys, (made up largely of U12’s and U13’s players), demonstrated incredible resilience and maturity beyond their years. They went undefeated across the day, drawing one match, and ultimately finished 2nd overall after a narrow countback with a point difference of only 2 tries—an exceptional result for such a young team.

The Under 15 Girls continued the strong performances, finishing undefeated and securing 1st place in their division with confident and composed play.

In the Opens division, the Girls team won all but one match, narrowly going down to a strong Emmanuel side by 2, to finish 2nd overall. Similarly, the Open Boys were impressive throughout the day, remaining undefeated with one draw against Emmanuel, leaving them finishing 2nd overall on a tight countback.

Across all teams, Lindisfarne students represented the school with pride, demonstrating respect for their opponents and a commitment to playing the game in the right spirit. Mrs Norman and the coaching staff were extremely proud of the effort, attitude and achievements of every player involved. This was a great first event to kick off a big year of Touch Football for the school.

SOMERSET COLLEGE

1st XV 22-24

U16

Under clear skies perfect for running rugby, the Lindisfarne Lions produced a commanding 52–12 victory over the Somerset Spartans 2nd XV in a match that showcased both resilience and attacking flair. The Lions burst out of the blocks with a fast start, racing to a 12–0 lead through sharp ball movement and direct running. However, facing an older and physical Somerset side, the Spartans clawed their way back into the contest, capitalising on a few lapses to level the scores at 12–12 by halftime. Despite the challenge, the Lions’ determination and strong defensive resolve kept them firmly in the contest, setting the stage for a decisive second half.

After making a few small but effective adjustments at the break, the Lions returned with renewed purpose and completely dominated proceedings, piling on 40 unanswered points. Strong ball carrying from Archer Barr, Oscar Moller, and Austin Lowes consistently bent the defensive line, while the halves pairing of Max Esgate and Tom O’Brien provided excellent organisation and control. In the backs, Matty Dunn and Max Clunies-Ross were destructive, with Dunn delivering a standout performance—crossing for five tries and setting the tone with his aggressive, uncompromising defence. It was a very strong display from the undefeated Lions outfit, whose cohesion and confidence continue to grow, auguring extremely well for their upcoming Ballymore Cup campaign against some of Queensland’s top schoolboy teams over the Easter break.

MIAMI SHS GIRLS 7s

U16

Our U16 girls were incredibly low on numbers but still attended the tournament where the 5 girls all did themselves proud, always trying their hardest and producing some good play. Zoe, Sophia, Poppy, Ellie and Bella certainly got lots of opportunities to tackle and get their hands on the ball. They should all be proud of the attitude and effort they displayed throughout the day.

APS RUGBY RD2

U14

The U14 rugby team produced a dominant performance on the weekend, running out 54–0 winners over Somerset in an impressive all-round display. From the opening whistle, the team played with purpose and cohesion, combining strong attacking structure with excellent support play.

One of the standout features of the match was the shared scoring effort, with eight different players crossing the line for tries. This highlights the team’s unselfish approach and ability to create opportunities across the field, rather than relying on individual brilliance.

Equally pleasing was the defensive performance, with the team showing great discipline and commitment to keep Somerset scoreless. Their organisation and willingness to work for one another ensured that no points were conceded, capping off a complete team effort.

This was a fantastic outing and provides great momentum heading into the Ballymore Cup over the holidays.

2026 Training Schedule and Notes

Please take note of the 2026 training schedule below. Rugby union is a team sport and we need as many of our players to be in attendance week in and week out to grow the Lindisfarne rugby program. Please note we will NOT be sending reminders for these training sessions (all players and families should assume training will ALWAYS BE ON), however we will let you all know with as much time as possible if we need to cancel a session due to weather or other factors.

Students should be in proper training attire (NOT school sports uniform) with mouthguard, boots and any other equipment they play with for every training session. This requirement also includes integrated school sport on Thursday i.e., students should wear our rugby training top or similar training top and not the school sport polo at this time. Alongside this, students should have a towel and spare school uniform to change into in case there is wet weather.

Outside of rugby training times, students should be in the correct uniform, which includes wearing the school sport polo on Thursday in P1-2 and P5-6 and in PE lessons and not rugby training tops.

Who Got Caught Reading?

During Term 1, the Library ran a “Get Caught Reading” competition.

It was fantastic to see so many students enjoying a good book! While not everyone could take home a prize, we loved catching so many of you reading.

Mrs Cox drew the Stage 3 winners, and congratulations go to:
Gillian Sharman (6B) and Sidney Jowett (6D)

Mr Robins drew the Senior School winners, and congratulations go to:
Ella Di Mieri (7B)
Noah Michael (7F)
Malika Marsden (BA4)

Well done to all students who were “caught” reading — each received a $20 voucher from QBD Tweed City.

Stay tuned for our next competition!

Growing Leaders

Ms Diaz and Ms McCabe have been awarded 100 per cent bursaries to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education Leadership at Southern Cross University, made possible through the strength of the school’s partnership with the university. This outcome reflects a shared commitment to investing in current and emerging leaders, and to creating tangible pathways for professional growth for our teaching team.

Both Ms Diaz and Ms McCabe have been active participants in the school's Emerging Leaders Program, where they have engaged deeply with leadership development, professional reflection, and collaborative practice. Their selection for these bursaries recognises not only their individual capability and commitment, but also the impact of the program in identifying and nurturing leadership potential within our staff.

This opportunity highlights the value of sustained partnerships and structured professional learning in supporting our staff to extend their expertise. We really do have the best teachers at Lindisfarne. Well done Ms Diaz and Ms McCabe!
