2025 Term 4 Week 3 31 Oct 2025
Upcoming Events
From the Principal
Dear Lindisfarne Parents and Guardians,
This week has been an exciting blend of leadership, reflection, celebration, and building community connections.
On Monday, I had the privilege of attending the Term 4 AHISA (Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia) Branch Meeting, held at Kincoppal-Rose Bay. It is always a positive and energising experience to connect with fellow Principals across NSW to discuss key educational developments and share insights that help shape the future of our schools.
Tuesday evening saw our First XV boys and Under 16 girls gathered for the Fiji Rugby Tour 2026 Information Session. This will no doubt be a transformational experience for our players, both on and off the field.
Later that evening, we hosted a session with renowned psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg on preparing for the transition into Year 7. This annual event is always a highlight on our calendar, offering valuable insights to both parents and students as they get ready for the next step in their educational journey.
Wednesday saw the Mahers Lane campus buzzing as our Year 9 Commerce students hosted their annual Market Day. From handmade goods to clever service offerings, students showcased their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and teamwork with the whole school community enthusiastically supporting their efforts.
That afternoon members of our Executive Team met with Sophie Renton from McCrindle as we edge closer to finalising our Strategic Plan-our Lindisfarne 2032 strategy. These sessions are pivotal in ensuring Lindisfarne remains future-focused and responsive to the evolving needs of our students and community.
We held our annual Year 12 Leadership Retreat at The Boathouse on Thursday. This tradition marks a significant moment for our incoming 2026 student leaders as they step into their new roles with clarity, confidence, and purpose. The day was filled with collaboration, reflection, and strong peer support, an encouraging sign of the calibre of leaders emerging.
Also on Thursday, The Reverend Constantine hosted a ParentEd Spiritual Care and Conversation session in the Chapel. With the theme "Significance Through Service", it was an opportunity for parents and staff to pause, reflect, and connect as we continue to support each other from a place of abundance, not depletion.
That evening, I attended the Gold Coast Education Leaders Forum at Southern Cross University. These events foster valuable partnerships and encourage open discussion about the key challenges and opportunities we face in the educational sector locally and beyond.
Today, on World Teachers’ Day, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all of our teaching and support staff. Their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and care for our students form the heartbeat of Lindisfarne. We honour them not only today but every day.
Today I also had the pleasure of attending the TSS Foundation Business Lunch themed around the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. This lunch offered unique insights and networking opportunities with special guests including Olympians Emma McKeon, Courtney Atkinson, Paralympian Curtis McGrath, CEO Australian Olympic Committee Mark Arbib and CEO Paralympics Australia Cameron Murray. Their stories of grit, excellence, and perseverance served as a powerful reminder of the values we continue to champion here at Lindisfarne - resilience, teamwork, and striving for greatness.
Spiritual Gym - This Sunday
A reminder that our next Spiritual Gym will be held this Sunday, 2 November in the Mahers Lane Chapel. The Reverends Lyndon and Constantine warmly invite you and your families to join us for this special evening of reflection and connection dedicated to the memory of loved ones who are no longer with us.
Afternoon coffee and connection: from 4.30pm (NSW time)
Service commences: 5.00pm - 6:00pm (NSW time)
This is a beautiful way to pause and reconnect, and I encourage our community to come along.
Wishing you all a restful weekend and a great week ahead as we continue through this exciting final term of learning and achievement.
Warm regards,
Stuart Marquardt

Dear Members of the Lindisfarne School Community,
Thanksgiving Service for our Graduating Class of 2025
Next Friday, 7 November, we will gather at the Graduation Eucharist to give thanks to God for our Graduating Class of 2025 and for all they have contributed to our school community. We thank God for guiding them throughout their years of primary and secondary education. We also give thanks for their families, teachers, and friends — all who have steadfastly supported them along the way. May the Lord bless our graduating students and guide them kindly into the next chapter of their lives. Amen.
All Saints and All Souls Feast Days
On November 1, the Church celebrates the Feast of All Saints (All Hallows)—a day dedicated to honouring all the holy men and women who lived lives of faith, courage, and virtue. The following day, November 2, we observe the Feast of All Souls, when we prayerfully remember all our departed loved ones who have gone before us into eternal life.
The evening before All Saints’ Day was traditionally known as All Hallows’ Eve, which, over time, became “Halloween.” What began as a Christian vigil of prayer and remembrance gradually took on more secular customs, yet it still points to the deeper truth of the Christian faith: life, death, and the hope of resurrection in Christ.
To be a saint is to refuse to settle for second best. It means placing our deepest hopes, joys, and fulfilment in God, rather than in things that fade away. Saints are ordinary people like us who allowed God’s extraordinary grace to shine through their lives. May their example inspire us to live with kindness, love, courage, generosity, compassion, and holiness in our daily lives.
And may the souls of all the faithful departed—especially our departed staff, students, and loved ones—through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.
Spiritual Gym – In Remembrance of Our Departed Loved Ones
Sunday, 2 November, 2025 – 4.30pm (refreshments), Service at 5.00pm
Our next Spiritual Gym will be held on Sunday, November 2, beginning with refreshments at 4.30pm, followed by a Family Eucharistic Service at 5.00pm, concluding at 6.00pm. During the service, we will light candles in remembrance of our loved ones and pray for the repose of their souls. We have loved them in life—let us not forget them in death. All are warmly welcome.
Community Christmas Carol Service
Sunday, 30 November, 2025 – 4.30pm (refreshments), Service at 5.00pm
Join us in the Mahers Lane Chapel for our Community Christmas Carol Service, a joyful celebration of music, faith, togetherness, and the love of God revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. As part of our tradition, we will take up a retiring collection to support Agape Outreach Centre, helping provide a three-course Christmas meal for those experiencing hardship and homelessness. All are welcome!
I wish you all a restful and relaxing weekend filled with God’s richest blessings in every way.

The Reverend Constantine Osuchukwu
Chaplain

Annual Parent Survey 2025
As part of our ongoing commitment to continuously improving the School, we believe it is critical to seek each parent and guardian’s opinion on a range of issues relating to Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School. Your feedback is very important to us as we continue to build a successful school and strengthen our reputation as an ‘educator of choice’.
As such, we have engaged the professional services of MYP Corporation (MYPCorp) to undertake a strictly private and confidential School Results Survey on our behalf. The survey should take approximately 10 - 15 minutes and must be completed online between Monday, 3 November and Monday, 17 November. There are no right or wrong answers, and we ask that you respond honestly to each statement.

Last week, we also welcomed many special visitors for Grandparents Day is always a cherished occasion on our school calendar. It was wonderful to see students proudly sharing their classrooms, stories, and learning with grandparents and special friends. These intergenerational connections remind us of the value of shared wisdom, experience, and the important role families play in nurturing our students’ growth.
We rounded out Wellbeing Week with our Colour Run, bringing together students, teachers, parents, and even some enthusiastic grandparents! It was a joyful celebration of community spirit, fun, and connection, the perfect way to finish a week focused on gratitude, togetherness, and wellbeing.

As we head toward the end of the year, we look forward to continuing to celebrate our students’ achievements and the wonderful sense of belonging that makes our school community so special.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden
To celebrate the newly renovated chicken coop at the Junior School, it most definitely needed a fancy new name. So the Year 4 students participated in a quick and fun Google task during their Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program time to log their suggestions.
The successful name actually came up 5 times and therefore was the clear winner. Check out the photo! Many thanks to Matt Osmond and Nathan McDonald, Industrial Arts at the Senior School, for carefully crafting our beautiful sign. And a big thank you to Justin and Nathan of the Sunshine Ave maintenance team for the time and effort that went into the renovations.

Year 3 Aged Care Visit
On Tuesday, 28 October and Thursday, 30 October, 3R and 3A travelled to Infinite Aged Care in Piggabeen to spend time with the residents as part of our Junior School Wellbeing Week.
Our students embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and were delighted to bring smiles to the faces of many elderly residents who hadn’t had visitors in quite some time. Laughter and stories filled the air as students busily created colourful masterpieces and heartfelt cards to brighten the residents’ rooms. The significance of this experience quickly became clear - the moments shared between the generations will be cherished and remembered for years to come.

To symbolise the connections formed, students and residents decorated and coloured flowers together. These were later arranged into framed artworks, now proudly displayed on the residents’ wall as a reminder of the day. Students also asked their new friends what life was like when they were nine years old, shared their favourite books, and exchanged hand-drawn cards. There was plenty of laughter as the children learned about “the good old days,” while the residents picked up a few modern tips - from how to build a mansion in Minecraft to becoming a handball champion overnight!
Throughout the visits, our students showed warmth, kindness, and genuine care, embodying the true meaning of connection. The joy on the residents’ faces was unmistakable - especially when they heard that classes 3S and 3MR would be visiting soon to continue building these friendships.
We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to continue our visits to Infinite Aged Care and to regularly share in such meaningful experiences. These visits help strengthen the bond between our students and the members of our community whose hearts and hands have helped shape the world we live in today. The flowers we created will continue to bloom - both on the walls at Infinite Aged Care and in our memories - for many years to come.

Bush Preschool
Last week the Bush Preschool groups were very lucky to enjoy a guided tour of Booningbah–Fingal Headland with Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council Rangers, Jyi and Bijang. This experience deepened our understanding of the land through learning from Traditional Owners about Caring for Country and connecting with community knowledge.
During our bush walk, we took time to stop, look, listen and learn. The Rangers shared stories and traditional knowledge about bush foods such as Dianella and Midyim berry, and showed us how to make leaf whistles from Dianella leaves — a skill once used to communicate while hunting in the bush. We learnt how certain grasses can indicate the presence of fresh water, how plants and animals signal the changing seasons, and how materials from trees can be used to make spears, fish nets, and shelters.
We were excited to spot black cockatoos, a seasonal indicator for stormy and rainy weather, as well as whales, a white bellied sea eagle, an inquisitive kookaburra, breaching whales, a sea turtle and a sleepy bearded dragon.

Middle School Captains for 2026
At the end of last term, our Year 7 students participated in Leadership Day, a special program designed to explore what it means to be a leader, both as an individual and as part of a team. Throughout the day, students engaged in a series of activities and discussions centred on teamwork, communication, and the values of service and responsibility that underpin effective leadership.
This experience laid the foundation for students to reflect on their own strengths and prepare to apply for the role of Middle School Captain for 2026. Following a thorough application and presentation process, we are delighted to announce our student leaders for the year ahead.
Middle School Captains: Imogen Donkin and Harvey Johnston
Middle School Vice Captains: Chloe Manwarring and Dean Arghyros
We congratulate these students on their appointments and look forward to their leadership, enthusiasm, and example in the year ahead. This year’s field of candidates was exceptionally strong, reflecting the dedication, confidence, and spirit of our Middle School community.
Tweed Police Educational Visit - Supporting Student Wellbeing and Safety
Next week, we will welcome representatives from the Tweed Police Youth Liaison Officers to speak with students across Years 6-8. These sessions are part of a proactive community education initiative designed to help young people make informed, responsible, and safe choices both online and in the wider community.
Throughout the day, officers will address topics relevant to each age group, including:
Online bullying
Using and sharing images responsibly
Naming people online
Engaging with strangers online (including through gaming)
Responsible use of e-bikes
Sexting (for Years 7-8)
These important conversations complement the work already undertaken through our Pastoral Care program, where students regularly explore issues around respectful relationships, digital safety, and responsible citizenship. The visit provides an excellent opportunity for students to hear real-world insights and advice from those who work directly with young people in our community every day.
We are grateful to the Tweed Police for their continued partnership and support in promoting the wellbeing, safety, and positive decision-making of our students.

Year 7 Coordinators Update
This term has marked the beginning of the leadership election process for 2026 for our Middle School leadership team. Our Year 7 students were equipped with a variety of leadership skills during our leadership day last term, and this has created a wonderful culture around the importance of leaders in our school. We have had our first set of elections for our middle school captains, and we will be beginning the process in Week Four of electing our house captains. House captains will be decided by those in each house, with the shortlisted students delivering their final election speeches to their house group.. The middle school team has been very impressed by all the effort, ideas, and speeches that were given so far within this process.
We have been further impressed by the SRC, who have sought to get feedback from all of Year 7 on changes they can try to make next year. Their commitment shows that leadership comes in many different forms and highlights the importance of encouraging all our students to have a voice. We are so proud of all our students who have grown so much throughout the year, and are looking forward to seeing the outstanding young leaders who will develop next year in Year 8.

From the Head of Senior School
This week has been an inspiring and purposeful one for our Year 12 2026 cohort as we continue to lay the foundations for a successful and fulfilling final year of schooling.
On Tuesday, students were privileged to hear from acclaimed child and adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, who delivered an engaging and practical session on “Surviving and Thriving in Year 12.” Dr Carr-Gregg’s insights into wellbeing, balance, and effective study habits resonated strongly with our students as they prepare for the challenges and opportunities of their HSC year. In recognition of the importance of his message, parents of our 2026 cohort will receive a copy of Dr Carr-Gregg’s book, provided by the School, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student wellbeing and success.
On Thursday, our newly appointed 2026 Captains and Prefects gathered at the Lindisfarne Boathouse for an afternoon of team-building, reflection, and planning. Guided by their teacher-mentors, our leaders explored what it means to leave a meaningful legacy and began developing their goals for the year ahead. It was a wonderful afternoon of collaboration and inspiration, and I am filled with tremendous confidence in this group’s ability to lead with purpose, integrity, and care for those around them. Their willingness to listen, share ideas, and support one another already sets a powerful example for their peers.
To conclude the week, the entire Year 12 2026 cohort spent today at the beach, working once again with our valued partners from Character Builders. This program was built on the momentum of their camp held earlier in the year, further strengthening relationships and encouraging teamwork, resilience, and self-awareness. The students embraced the activities with enthusiasm and positivity, demonstrating genuine camaraderie and a shared sense of purpose.
The energy and enthusiasm shown by our future Year 12 students give me great confidence in what lies ahead. The next twelve months promise to be both rewarding and transformative for this exceptional group of young people. With such strong foundations, a supportive community, and a deep commitment to each other’s growth, the Class of 2026 is poised to make their final year one of great achievement and lasting memories.

Year 10 Explore the Future of Food with Circle Harvest
As part of the Year 10 Geography unit, Sustainable Biomes, students recently took part in a fascinating incursion with Circle Harvest, a leader in innovative food sustainability and future food education.
Held on Friday, 24 October, the session gave students a first-hand look at how science and technology are shaping the future of global food production. Circle Harvest presenters explored key topics including food security, cultured meats, sustainable farming systems, nutrition, and advances in agricultural innovation.
A highlight of the day was the opportunity to sample edible insect products and even taste a cultured meat quail candle provided by VOW. Our school was one of the first in Australia to trial this remarkable creation, and students were both intrigued and excited by the experience.
The incursion provided valuable insight into sustainable protein alternatives and sparked thoughtful discussion about how future generations can address global food challenges. It was an engaging and eye-opening experience that successfully deepened student understanding of sustainability concepts explored in the Sustainable Biomes unit.

NCIS Secondary Surfing
On Monday, 27th October, the NCIS Surfing Competition was once again held at Sawtell Main Beach. With good, clean 2-3 foot conditions throughout the day, surfers had plenty of opportunities to display their skills. With the large number of entries for each age group, the contest directors decided to run two banks for surfers for much of the day.
There were 46 surfers in the event this year, including those from BDC, LAGS, EAC, CSS, GGFS, and CVAS. The level of surfing was exceptional all day, with close heats and amazing manoeuvres from all surfers. The Lindisfarne Team should be very proud of their efforts, with finalists across all Age Groups - including two Gold Medals.
